Hi all,

I notice that every once in a wile my dvd or Blu-ray player gets stuck at what seams at the end of a chapter.
I was woundering if anyone has seen this problem before and let me know what it could possibly be.

I used to connect from video player(Blu-ray, and dvd ) using hdmi directly to the TV. now I connect from video player to receiver using hdmi and then from receiver to the TV using hdmi.

There seams to be no difference. the main problem is that is not that it happens all the time or in the same spot. just evey once in a while it just gets stuck and then moves to what seam to be the next chapter but it is so obvious and it happens when you least expect it.

Do any of you know how to fix it?

Thanks

since I see you have a Sony BDP350 in your sig, I would go to Sony's website and download the firmware update. THis is a common problem with Sonys, the newer discs dont play correctly with older firmware versions. I had a problem with Wall-E freezing up and the firmware update corrected it.

I have the same BDP and had the same problem, the firmware update fixed it. If you do not have the option to get the update via direct ethernet connection, Sony gives you the option to create an update disc and load it on to your BDP with a CDR.

Sounds like a problem with the laser.

How is it a laser problem? Please be more specific.

Definitely sounds like a software/firmware problem, just as the other member said and verified.

BluRay players are still a work in progress, update your firmware. I have had to do about 6 firmware updates on my Panasonic BD30.

The funny thing is that it happens on my pioneer V48A DVD player, as well as the Sony DBP-S350. I will give the new firmware a try.

It does not happen often but it does happen. I also want to add that is not a scratch disk since it also happens on brand new disks.

I only have 2 blu-ray disks. so I have to say I see it more on DVD disks on both players.

I also recall having the same problem on an older panasonic DVD player.
It is just anoying that the more money you expend on your toys this kinds of problems still persist..

Yeah for me it only happened on DVDs but like I said before firmware updates are the way to go with these bad boys for a while. It's still a semi new technology so you have to toy around with it all before it works perfectly 100% of the time.
