Well I have been dragged into facebook by friends from the past. It is pretty cool, but I was a different person when most knew me back then so its kinda weird... I was unofficially voted most likely to be dead in my yearbook.
Anyone do facebook here? What do you think?

No Facebook here, but I do have a Myspace account. I very rarely use it anymore, but it's pretty cool. It's a great way of staying in touch with the people that you don't see all the time...old friends that have moved away. I like it.

I visit much less frequently than initially. It's good to exchange info with "some" people or if you are into watching other people's drama from afar that can be done too.

It can be whatever you want it to be. It has it's uses.

Agree with the previous few posts on Facebook being a bit more real than Myspace. The only reason that I'd do Myspace was if I was a musician or had a band as a way to promote music. Otherwise, Facebook is set up better for keeping in touch with old friends (the only reason I'm on there)....just my .02

I just started about a month ago. My only complaint is that since I'm using dial-up internet service, each page take way too long to load up. Longer than any other wesite page I've ever experienced. So, because of that I wont be using it very often. I live in the mountains, so the only way I could get high speed service would be to buy an internet satellite, which is more money than I want to spend. This extra expense would take away from my Audio upgrades!

I'm on Facebook & I'm enjoying it. Only signed up under duress, but old friends - from high school & college - have begun finding me & it's been terrific catching up. It will probably wear out its welcome, but for now, me likey.

I wouldn't have minded paying a one time fee for classmates. But I remember checking into it and it seems that they automatically renew you every year....you can't choose a one-year subscription.

Yeah I hear ya. Sometimes I don't really want to hear from people I barely remember, but it is nice that some want to know what happened to "the most least likely to succeed": or live for that matter.

I have people begging me to get a Facebook account. I spend too much time on the computer as it is :). I'm resisting, but it seems to be a good way to reach back into the past. A good friend of mine just got set-up with a computer after not having one for about 6 years........she joined Facebook and so many people have come out of the woodwork. She's enjoying it a lot.

Once I get my new netbook set-up and I can be more portable perhaps I will get an account. Right now I don't feel like I'm missing anything.

Don't want to,never will.Do any of you guys remember what a phone is for?? Besides texting? I guess it's ok for keeping in touch with old school pals, but other than that,I don't get it besides creating a generation of people who can't communicate.I know people who spend 6 hours a day on facebook.I would rather spend that 6 hours in a bar socializing with friends and family.I also know of many couples who have destroyed their relationships due to old boyfriends/girlfriends looking them up through facebook, myspace.Oh well, guess my age shows a bit with my opinion on this,I just see more harm than good from it,thats all.

Most definitely. No MySpace as Facebook is MUCH better. It's great for keeping in touch with friends back home, friends who have moved, showing off pictures, etc.

Personally, I'm a member of the paranoid generation. The LESS info I have out there about myself the less surveilled I will be. Various security engines troll those sites and your public face may not be who you think you are, nonetheless, Gov't and others probably have access to everything you put out.

Too Big Brother for me. A free space that is NOT really as free as people think it is.

Just my paranoid 2 cents. Perhaps a few years in therapy might be warranted for me...or I might be right. Even I'm not sure so I stay away.

Even this site is probably vulnerable...

good points tonyb... today's generation grew up on computers and gaming consoles and don't know how to socialize with another human being face to face. Sad really. I'm with you... some things you just can't experience over the net when talking with someone.

I on occasion enjoy going to a bar with friends and physically seeing them in person.. not over a phone or text or emails. Sure it's not always feasible, but I will take that human to human interaction over facebook, or myspace any time, every time.

I'm a MySpace guy, been so for quite awhile, it's fun and a neat way to just keep in touch without having to use the phone or text. But, one of these is enough, I don't need a second one like FB.

The fact is, sites like these (MySpace and FB) are really no different then email, it's like a dressed up email with photos and stats.

Yes I am, and I find it a great tool to find people that were "lost". I just got contacted by an old friend from high school about our 20 year reunion. There is no way I would have found out if it wasn't for Facebook, I had not been in contact with her since graduating and she just found me because she is organizing the reunion. Many other friends from the past have either found me, or I have found them.

I live in a foreign continent so that adds to the convenience as well, I don't want to call all the time to Europe.

Texting is retarded. I agree about using a phone, but if you have no idea where someone lives how do you find them? I just found a friend that I used to "flip" cards with when we were 8 years old. I like to see what people look like now. A lot of the hotties that I wanted are all fat and undesirable. Kinda funny that some of them were so stuck on themselves.
