Is it just me or has CP returned to it's older more jovial self? I haven't seen any nasty flames happening (Curt and his Daisy Dukes the exception) and the mood in general seems more like when I first joined. People helping people do what they love. Tollerance toward the newbs is up. Grouchiness is down. Lots of good humor. For a a while there in January this place was downright ugly. Newbs with 'tudes, no one tollerating anyone, an onslaught of "other forumers". It was just weird and uncomfortable. Now, it just feels ..........more like home again. I like it. I think I'll stay awhile.

If it would help matters out, I'd be glad to post more pictures of me in the Daisy Dukes.:p They get even better, that one was just the beginning of the photo shoot...lmao

I've noticed this too though. It seemed like these last couple weeks here have been a lot more relaxed. I joined up shortly before the holidays, and it was relaxed at that point just like it is now. My guess is that the forums get bombarded with millions of repeat questions around the holidays due to people receiving Polk products as Christmas presents or needing advice on how to make their new components(which were also Christmas presents) work with their Polk speakers.

I noticed for a while that there were probably about 8 threads going at the same time asking if they could run their LSi's with an AVR. "What kind of speaker wire do I need for my new speakers?", "which pair of inputs do I use?", "should I "bi-amp" with my AVR?" etc etc...

It seems a little more laid back now though.:) Let me know if more pictures of the Daisy Dukes are required though...lmao...I have hundreds of them.:p:p:D

I am still new to this place, And i really like it, have spent money on things i never thought i would buy, Have a system i never thought i would never have, Also enjoying all my music with new ears. I have learned more about audio then i ever thought i would, Looking forward to learning more from you guys that have been there done that. I may never have the most expensive rig but what i have i am enjoying. If not for this place i would not have what i have, And i do thank you guys that have helped me. Within the next year i really want to piece together a 2 channel set up, And i will be tuning in here for the help i need, And advice to get there. And somewhere down the line keep meeting new people. It reminds me of a Drug Addict chasing the best High they can get.

x2. I'm still pretty new to all of this myself, and the people here are second to none. I've received more help here than I ever would have imagined. I still have a long way to go on my audio journey, but I'm still very happy with what I have now. It's leaps and bounds better than any of the equipment I've had in the past, and I'll be getting a LOT more through out this next year. I owe it all to the guys(and gals :)) here on Club Polk too. My wallet hates you guys, but I think you're alright.;)

Ah...good old Rockmore. The guy that came here looking for ideas on ripping the PR's out of his Polk S10's, and ended up "completing" the project 3 days later with parts ordered from Parts Express...over the weekend:rolleyes: Suspiciously fast shipping eh?... I miss him, I wanted some advice on mutilating my Monitor 7A's.

It seems to be a pattern that after Christmas, folks who've received/bought audio gear log on; most are okay, some want info on how to build a subwoofer from a cardboard box.

    Wasn't as bad this year.

I haven't seen any flames and that includes Curt and his Daisy Dukes. ;)
That he took it for what it was (good natured chop busting) instead of whining to the mods is a good thing. Some folks might take note of that.

We certainly don't want to scare anybody off, but we sure don't want to form a knitting circle. :)

Cool to see newer folks getting a lot of help in the Speakers/Electronics forums and that has to do as much with the nature of the "newbies" as it does with the nature of the Old Farts on here.
One d00d in particular started a thread that's gone to 4 pages/80 posts (or there abouts) on what AVR would work for his needs, and on how to set it up.
He asked a lot of "newbie" questions that may have been asked before, but he was open to responses and asked questions when he didn't understand something.
The Old Farts on here will hang with you 'til hell freezes over if they sense and honest "I don't understand".
BUT ... if you attempt to hide your non-knowledge by baffling them with BS, than you're on your own. And that's the way it should be.

So the fact that newbies haven't been getting flamed lately is to the newbies credit.

    Exactly.

If I remember correctly, things got pretty tense at one point last summer, probably even moreso than in January. But, as I understand it, this is part of the cyclical nature of the forum (probably any forum). So Darla put it best -- just gotta go with the flow, and ride it out in good times and bad.

Just avoid the "downs" and go with the "ups"!! I've never been tense on here once. I also don't have 25k posts so maybe someone will piss me off in the future. I say let someone else participate in the downs.

I use this philosophy in real life. Works wonders.

The drama is fun sometimes but it got a little tiresome back in the summer.

I think the biggest strength of this club is its community. Guys here get to know other guys and as a result offer much better advice and info. If Early B weren't here to tell me not to sell my speakers every month, then who knows where I'd be right now.
