I'm curious to see the underside of that clamp. I want to see if they used my design.

Here some pics, have not tried it yet. Let me know if you want specific parts or angles, tape measure side by side.

Wow they made almost a complete duplicate of my collet and the overall design of the clamp except for the flat bottom nib.

Did it come with any shims to be placed under the record?

This should work very well for you.

No shims or instructions but pretty basic to setup. I have no preconceived notions on what a record clamp does for sound but here are my early observations. Overall very satisfied. Thanks hearing for the recommedation.

The background seems black or dead quiet.

Improved seperation, really brings out the SDA effect.

Tighter cleaner bass, going back it seems like the bass is almost bloated without the clamp.

PM me your addy, I'll send you a couple of shims that I use for The Clamp. They will improve warp removal and improve the effects of your clamp.

You simply place a shim over the spindle and then put the record over it. It will cause the reflex action of the clamp to be stronger and really make that record hug the platter. There are two thicknesses of the shims one is thicker than the other to remove nasty warps. You may find youself using the thick one all the time. That is the one I use on my VPI for all my record. Because you can adjust the down pressure of the clamp you'll see that with the thicker shim down you will be able to adjust for different record thickness and again those nasty stubborn warps.

Can you post a picture of your platter mat so I can make sure the shims will work correctly?

Very kewl. Let me know if these don't provide the details you are looking for.

BTW, Is what I am observing what you should expect or am I off base ?

The shims will work just fine with that mat.

Yes exactly but I think when you put the shims down it will be more dramatic because the record will make even more intimate contact with the platter.

Was I right about needing a clamp?

Send me your addy and I will send you the shims.

Joe, yes you were. I have to admit I was not too sure because of how well it sounded but the clamp really brought the sound into focus. I did not know any better but now I can not go back.

Thanks again for this very valuable tool that makes vinyl sound even better.

    PM on it way.

Your welcome but Joe is the man who guided me otherwise I had no clue.

BTW, I do have to leave my dust cover in the up position when playing vinyl as the Clamp will touch the inside of the dust cover.

I take my cover off while playing so how tall it is does not make a difference to me. perfect!
