WTH are you talking about? I didn't put his amp down, I simply stated a fact. Rotel is not high end, it's mid-fi.
Instead of critiquing my posts, how about you try to help him with his problem? That is, after all, the topic at hand.Political Correctness'.........defined
"A doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a t-u-r-d by the clean end."

1700 dollars is alot of money to spend on a peice of electronics and i have certian expectations for that amount of money, so to me it is high end. It doesnt matter what volume i play the amp at, no matter what the sound shuts off after maybe 3 or 4 minutes
Cembros, I understand your frustration but it happens to all levels of gear. I bought a McIntosh Pre amp about 10 days ago. It was in my rack all of about 1/2 hour before it died. It took longer to hook it up than I got to listen to it!
Contacted seller and a new one was delivered within 3 days and they paid for shipping the broken pieces back. UPS picked them up at the house. I did not have to lug these things anywhere except out the front door. I'm sure Rotel will make this good for you without you having to spend more money.

I don't know what your problem is but I can understand your outrage. Finut's comments aside (He is right, a few thousand is mid-fi because you can spend what your house is worth or more on equipment if you're B. Madoff).
For 1700 dollars I would expect my amp to work for a couple of years minimum without any problems and I would consider it irresponsible of the manufacturer not to have sufficient quality control at that price. That said, I will never be able to spend more than that myself. But I do understand that there is a layer of audiophile who can entertain his/her highest dreams and million dollar home theaters EXIST! As to whether or not those who own them can actually hear the difference.
Well, many of them don't even have a 'real' musical ear, no training in music, don't play an instrument, haven't inherited perfect pitch, etc., etc. But they sure do own some great pieces! This is a hobby...yes. But once we get up that high, shouldn't we be musicians of a sort? At least good musicians! Just a thought from someone who does play a few instruments.

Well, I'm one of "them", and I find I can appreciate music without having been formally trained as a musician. I'd hate to walk in audio store to buy a piece and be asked for my musicians union ID card.

Yeah, I don't understand the logic of having to be a musician or have "inherited perfect pitch" (wtf?) to enjoy my music anymore than someone having to be a pro baseball player to watch a baseball game on TV. The bigger and better TV you have the more skilled baseball player you need to be???Speakers: Polk LSi15
