RTi7's Mid range drivers acting up

I own a pair of RTi7's that I use for my rear channel, and a pair of RTi12's that are my main speakers.
I apparently over drove both sets, the two mid-range drivers in the 12's are blown and a tweeter in the 7's is blown.
A couple of questions.
My "stereo" consists of a Parasound Pre-amp and a Sunfire amp. The amp is rated at 200WPC. I can't believe the 12's mid-ranges are blown, they are less than two years old and I thought they were pretty much bulletproof.
I thought that both of these sets of speakers were supposed to handle that kind of power. The distortion rating in my stereo is quite small as I know it can blow speakers, I spent good money for premier American electronics in the Sunfire and Parasound and still I'm having to replace speakers, I'm a little dissapointed.
The RTi7's mid range speakers are cutiing out, they are 6-7 years old so it's understandable that they are not performing exactly up to par. I spoke with a tech at Polk who said to write down the mid-range driver info and provide it to Polk and they would replace them for a price. He told me to be sure to join Club Polk to save 20% on the expense of the replacement speakers.
Can anyone offer an opinion about what is going on with the 7's? They work fine at modest sound levels but complately cut out at higher levels, both of the 7's do it, cut out, whats that all about?
I'm not sure I want to persue replacing the drivers in the 7's, why would I spend money to replace all the drivers in my rears and not just buy new speakers.
I'm not quite sure why I'm having to replace them, I thought they were rated to handle 200WPC.
I certainly dont want to dis Polk on their web site but I've certainly had my problems with their speakers. I had a pair of outdoor Polk's that I replaced with JBL's because the Polk's failed after a couple of years. This replacing speakers is getting to be a habit...a bad habit.
