Welcome to Club Polk!:) Nice to have some international members on board.
What you have there are Polk Monitor 7's. Some fine speakers if I may say so. I have a pair of Monitor 7A's, which are the same speaker, with a different tweeter, I love them.
The recommended power rating is from 20-150 watts, at a rated 8 ohm impedance. The impedance is really more like 6 ohms though, and has been known to dip to below 4 ohms sometimes, so make sure you have a competent amp for them.
As long as you're not cranking it real loud for extended periods of time though, you should be alright with an 8 ohm amp. I have my 7A's running on an amp that's only rated for 8 ohms, and they do fine. I just keep the volume within reason, and don't run them for real extended periods of time. The nirvana inducer-

Right you are...they're the original 7's with the SL2000 tweeters, and no letter connotation at the end of the model name.
Here's a link to Polks page with some more specs/info on them. This page is specifically for the Monitor 7 Series 2 speakers, which are slightly different, and use a different tweeter, but are essentially the same speaker.

I'm sorry, but that's a pant load of bad info.Political Correctness'.........defined

I'm sorry, but this comment is useless to the OP or to the rest of us who would like to learn unless you elaborate."Don't forget to change your politician. They are like diapers they need to be changed regularly, and for the same reason." -

How so? I've been running my 7A's with my Onkyo AVR for a while now...and they're doing just fine so far. I just don't crank it to really high volumes, and I don't keep it going for hours and hours at a time.
Obviously an external amp would do much better...but in an instance where he doesn't have an external amp, or money to go and get one right away, he'll be just fine temporarily.
I'll be getting an external amp for mine in the near future myself. The nirvana inducer-

I'm sorry, I thought the point of my comment was clear enough, but perhaps not.
The Monitor 7's are an easy load. Any power source kept below clipping levels, even a cheap 50wpc Realistic receiver for example, shouldn't have a problem driving them regardless the length of time.Political Correctness'.........defined

I've heard on several occasions, from reputable members of this board, that the Monitor series speakers are really more like a 6 ohm load, and have been known to dip to below 4 ohms from time to time. Perhaps I was wrong on that, as I've never checked the impedance on them myself.
I'll trust you over what I've heard elsewhere though. You are our president after all.;)The nirvana inducer-

7A's had peerless tweeters, those are the SL2000 tweeters as far as I know. I think they're Monitor 7's, I'm not an expert though.
I do have a pair of 7A's though, and they have Peerless tweets. The nirvana inducer-

not all 7A's came with peerless tweeters.. just like not all 7B's did.. but mine have peerless tweeters and are not 7A's.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

I knew that some of the 7B's didn't have Peerless, I was under the impression that all the 7A's did though. Learn something new every day I guess.
How can you discern that they're 7A's? The gasket around the outside of the drivers is different than the silverish/gray gasket on mine...which is another thing that led me to believe they were 7's. Just out of curiosity, and for future reference.:)The nirvana inducer-
