I have a set of these speakers, one tweeter in the pair of rt1000i and one tweeter from the pair of 800's is blown. I bought them from a friend and they were already blown when I recieved them. I took out the tweeter and see it is a sl6506 and I guess I need to replace it.

My question is that the dust cover that is actually seen from the outside of the speaker is kinda melted looking on the outside edge. Is this a seperate part or will it come with the new tweeter? any help would be awesome.

hey take a picture and post it if you can.. but nothing should be melted, period.

call Polk customer service and maybe talk to a support person.. there may be other problems with your speakers.. do mention you are a club Polk member and you get a discount on the new tweeters.

Blown tweeters for sure. By dust cover you mean the gray cover/membrane? The tweeters come compete. I used to have one of these (bought by mistake for my RT1000p).

I have a rt 1001 tower floor speaker and when I plug it up ther is a distortion sound. I have switch left zand right same problem. I have a new onkyo receiver so I know this is not the problem the old Onkyo had the speaker made the same sound. When I unplug the ac cord I still get sound from the speaker with the spezaker wires hooked up. If someone knows anything about this please let me know. I took the back cover off the fuse is OK and all wires are tight.

    Thank You

RT1000i has a powered subwoofer built-in, so you have a problem with the subwoofer amplifier. Contact Polk CS.
