That's the kind of crap that has ruined NASCAR. If Dale Sr. were still alive he would have killed the NASCAR execs before allowing them to run that kinda crap.HT

You guys are both absolutely correct or maybe its just me at 47 being too old for the sport.
I personally think Darrell makes a fool of himself and hurts alot of the "old school" NASCAR guys when he says that stupid saying at the start of races aired by FOX, which I can't bring myself to repeat.
Since I am making a little fun here how about the toupees guys like Spencer wears? How damn funny is that??? -
much rather watch those touring car races than nascar

NASCAR died when DALE did period. SMOKE is the only reason i watch it now days, and i hope he has a great year this year.

All I can say is that was the crapiest 500 I ever saw. No drama, no nothin.

I take it you missed the 10 car pile up that little Dale caused.
Anyway, I agree with you that the end was a joke.Political Correctness'.........defined

Not too mention all the rules on the cars these days, and having to keep to such a tight standard when the cars are built, causing the cars to run in such tight bunches all the time....Testing

That never happens in F1.
Gee Jessie....do you think that a 1,300 lb (or less) car with tremendous ground effects on a relatively flat road course vs a 3,500± car with almost no GE on a 31° banked oval (or tri-oval in Daytona's case) might have a little something to do with that. They do run in the rain on a road course...but not a high bank, high speed track. Even with rain tires...we're talking nothing more than a NASCAR Demolition Derby in the rain...last car still running wins."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais

I believe after Daytona, Jr. Nation will start to reduce in size…. at least for the smart ones that realize that the apple did fall far from the tree. Perhaps Mickey Rourke can help Jr. revive his career.

Dale Sr. was a badass who wanted to win and knew how to win.....period.
Jr. may want to win , but he doesnt have a clue how to get to the checkered flag without making critical mistakes...nor does he posess the pure driving talent his dad had.
Both Tony and Kyle have more pure driving talent then Jr. will ever have, they know what it takes to get back through the field when they have an issue set them back... or even go a lap or 2 down.
Its really sad to see the nation of blind sheep...I mean the " Jr. Nation " jump to their feet and peg the db meters when he happens to luck into the lead at rare occasions ( Because you know he wont be there when it really matters ) ...its actually funny to see and hear.
Vickers move was aggressive, but not overly aggressive...he got down there in time to only have the tips of their bumpers touch.....Jr did not have position on him ( If Jr's front bumper had been near vickers window or even the middle of the quarter panel ...and vickers still got into Jr forcing him below the yellow line...throw the book at vickers. Vickers got there in time for the block... it was Jr who should have slowed and gotten back in line after he cleared vickers rear ....Jr's car was always in control....not forced out and out of control like a lot of the blind sheep are saying. )
Jr screwed the pooch the entire day in the pits and on the track....got frustrated and took out most of the real contenders for the win ( Kyle was on his way to take that checkered flag ....there were other strong runners, but Kyle had that handling spot on as long as one of those Goodyears didnt crap out).
Even with his own special set of rules ( ANY other driver would have been watching the field go by round and round 5 times ) he cant Git er done.
I hope this rain here in CA lets up by race day :mad:The first rule of Fight Club is you don't talk about Fight Club -

My points:
The Daytona 500 belongs right where it is, at the beginning of the season. This way points arent and issue only winning is. This way you dont have anybody playing it safe - theyre all driving to win.
Dale Jr is the Anna Kournikova of NASCAR. He cant win but he's purdy and has the right last name.
Kyle Busch is a punk and has a bad attitude. He also wins most races he enters, drives his **** completely off and has brought back excitement to NASCAR almost single handedly. God bless Kyle Busch.
Whats killing NASCAR is Mike Helton. He wants to make NASCAR appeal to soccer moms and fraternity boys and so none of the drivers are allowed to speak their minds or dare offend anybody. Thats why I love Tony, Kyle and Harvick. I want to see guys get pissed off and have a brawl in the garage. I want to hear them **** with Goodyear screws up the tires and ruins the race. We need more attitude in NASCAR.
One thing that would cure NASCAR is to take a page from Jesse's beloved F1 - drivers union (or owners association in F1). That idiot Helton seems to think the fans come to see him or something. Well they dont and NASCAR doesnt own these tracks. I would love to see all the top 43 drivers walk up to Helton's office and tell him "youre a moron. It's funny , even with the millions of dollars these boys make , they still cant have what they want.
In Kyles case, there isnt a plastic surgeon in the world that could help the little shrub be a purdy boy.
And with Jr. , If he could rub the magic lamp he would ask for driving skills and an attitude like Kyles...so people would think he was more like his daddy. The first rule of Fight Club is you don't talk about Fight Club -
NASCAR = Rasslin' with wheels.
On sports talk radio yesterday morning going to work, I heard 14 Jr. is a punk calls, 14 Jr. is the reincarnation of Dale calls, 5 calls that said there was a conspriacy to let Jack Roush win, because they called the race early, one call that said Jack Roush was a demon and made a pact with the devil to bring the rain so he could win his first Daytona 500 and one call that said Smoke and Jeff Gordon were **** lovers. All of these were the casual fans of the sport...the hardcore guys wait for the NASCAR afternoon show with Dr. Jerry Punch (a Knoxville resident)."Just because youre offended doesnt mean youre right." - Ricky Gervais

Sadly Mac, the powers that be in F1 are trying (and succeeding) to do the same dumbing down that Nascar is.
I heard they were trying to force some stupid "green" racing engine on the teams and the owners banded together and told the sanctioning body to go F themselves. I would think thats a good thing and would keep the powers that be from **** things up. Is that not what happened?
Its something I wish NASCAR would do.
The drivers/teams are what make F1 and NASCAR. The sanctioning bodies just give them a place to race. They can find other tracks but theres not too many Jr's, Gordons and Stewarts around.polkaudio sound quality competitor since 2005

I am still a huge Dale Sr. fan, yes I know he's dead. Jr. is out of line in many ways. In the 500 he was a disaster, his split from the Earnhardt family racing team (DEI) shows how immature he is. Alot of people in the sport said he grew up real quick after his father died but they were being kind or really meant he went from a baby to a young man.
Jr. could not follow in his fathers footsteps because he has never been man enough to find them. I listened to some things Jr. said this AM and he made alot of excuses for his inability, Vickers fault LOL competitor pit signs where similar looking to his pit signs again what a BABY. He just can't admit to making a mistake kind of like my son did when he was 4 yrs old.
I can't root against Jr. but he makes it hard to root for him being soooooo much different than his father.
I'll quit complaining about the kid.
What do you guys think about NASCAR in general?
I've been a fan since the late 70's and find it sad what has become of it. I have to admit I'm getting older and dislike the childish things that NASCAR promotes. How about starting the 500 around 3:30? If they started it in a timely fashion like 1:00 it would have been a great race instead of a FLOP.
Did you even follow why he split with DEI? The **** wouldn't even let him keep his number. She's in it for the money...plain as day.
On another note, Jimmie Johnson had a helluva ride in that wreck.

I hate when a race does not finish. Too many races are settle at the very end of the race. I feel like I was ripped off/ cheated. Spent all that time watching the race just to see it given away.engtaz
