There are a pair of these on CL Fort Collins CO in platteville that have three blown tweets (two on one and one on the other) and one blown 6 1/2" and he's trying to pass them off as all working. I went to look at and he kept going down on price when I found another tweeter not working. Also he mentioned he used to "play" guitar through them, not good. If you could get for 2-300 and want a project it might be worth it, but they also needed completely new grill and side cloth and wood refinnished, just thought you might like to know.

I will never understand why people play their guitars through their home audio speakers. I've heard of quite a few people doing that...and have even seen a few of my friends do it.

Those speakers aren't designed for the strain that an actual guitar puts on them...that's a slightly higher current signal than your average home audio setup...

Good looking on the heads up.

Yeah Sal is right, the price isn't bad for the condition. That said there is one major concern, "The front covers on both have alot of snags on them from kittens climbing on them", which means that the rubber surrounds on all the drivers and PR's should be closely inspected for small holes/tears from kitty claws.

Anyone remember Disco Mike and his kitty defiled 1C's?

well he might go as low as 400 cash if you flashed it right in front of him. I looked closely with a flashlight and did not see any holes in the surrounds, but the house stunk worse than a bar (with cig smell) and I had to get out of there.

he went to 5 but he was asking 700 at that time and that was several months ago.His add now says 500 obo so 4 or 450 would probably get you there. I dont have anything that I own to transport them in, I was going to have to have a friend help me with his truck.

I saw an e-bay listing the other day where the seller was going to transfer them by Greyhound. I never thought about that before. Not sure if that large a package would even be accepted, and also not sure if it would be a good idea. Might be cheaper than f.o.b. shipment.

You're certainly finding a lot of excuses not to buy those speakers. Considering that the average pair goes @ $1000.00, these for $400 or $500.00 are priced right. Spend a few hundred more fixing them up and you've got a nice pair of speakers.

I would but money is kind of tight right now and I already have some SDA SRS 2.3 just not the TL that are in excellent shape. I think the next step for me will be the 1.2 TL but we will see. I know I am the ultimate procrastinator. I see the 1.2 TL in Denver often for around 1500 to 2000.

I got him to agree to 450, please go get these so wont be tempted anymore. Its a great project but I just dont have the time or money right now. I just hate when people who know something is messed up and try and pass it off as working correctly. If you get them keep me posted on how it is going.

No i am going tomarrow, My wife said if i spend the day up north for speakers on Valintines Day there would be hell to pay + i had to work longer then i thought. We had reservations for dinner so i had to make the rest of the day about her. i understand her point took her out to buy some blinds for the house, now we are getting ready to take off for dinner.

I finally got a hold of this guy today, told him i would get back with him on them. i really need some help here as far as refurbishing them. i have no concern about me doing the work on them.as i pick things up really fast, and I'm good at DIY.now i am very interested in taking this on.what i need help with is replacement parts. does Polk still carry replacement drivers/twitters for them? and what about cost on the parts any idea?

    Thanks,

    Larry.

they dont make that exact tweeter anymore, so you will need to get 6 new RDO tweets and one new 6 1/2" the tweets are 48 each if you mention that you are a member of this forum the MW is 48 also, you can get some new grillcloth from parts express and just refinnish the top and bottom and your good.
