I used to have S1 & S3`s for I/C`s and sold them to finance some brand new `08 S1`s...

I am going to be getting S1 speak cable when I get the $$ together...

at the moment I am using AQ Bedrock bi-wire speak cable, and although it does sound real good, I am sure once I put the MIT shotgun speaker cable in the mix it will sound sooo much better..

my new S1`s took some time to really break in, but I could really, and I mean REALLY hear the difference after a few weeks of solid playing....they do get better with age

Takes some patience , but it`s totally worth it

The guy who had your cables first probably didn`t give them time to settle in and decided to move up the chain without giving it enough break in time

I just bought my first set of wires from MIT. They are a upgrade from yes monster wire. I think of this as a new thing "burn in" So my MIT S3S so far are a great deal better than the monster cable. So what should I do for the best burn in? Leave my system on for a full week? Right now they probably have 7 hours on them from movies and music.

I was reading that some leave their systems on and on a normal volume. What would be something to play over and over?

Despite what you think right now, they sound terrible for the first 2 days. Full burn in takes at least 2 weeks. Simply play your system as normal with whatever material you want. Playing something on repeat will get you to the 2 week mark even faster.

LOL I think I am a long way off from buying all those cables but one by one I will. There are 2 monster cables I am using for signals. One a fiber optic and one a coaxial. They will be the first.

I just looked up the cables I would need. Comes to almost 500 for what I need.

Well when your right your right. And another thing I am finally a believe in that speaker wire does help. I finally had everyone out of the house yesterday. So I sat down and gave the system a test drive. The bass OMG the bass is so much cleaner and a lot more of it. Honestly the speakers are outperforming my sub as of right now even at higher volumes it still stays clear. I love these cables. LOVE EM'

I'm firmly convinced we will never have the ability to measure and understand everything that goes on in the process of using electrons and vibrations to experience music. We just need to trust our ears.

It seems every time I introduce even 1 new wire, cable, component or even tube into my mix of seasoned components, the sound quality is immediately affected, but takes a full week to settle down and reveal its full contribution to the total synergy of the system.

My Shotguns initially took about 21 solid 24 hour days to reach their full potential.

do you need to "burn in" all brands of speaker wire or is this just an MIT thing?

Many disagree about this. Many high line component/speaker/tube/wire/cable manufacturers suggest that it takes several weeks for the components in a system to settle in.

The difference with MIT is more subtle.
