I finally installed my first separate amp in my system, a Carver TFM-35. The first thing i noticed is that I do not get an increase in volume from my system. I adjusted everything exactly as instructed by the Carver manual and then ran the ypao on my yami and made further adjustments after the settings had been made....

I sat down and began listening to a couple cds for reference that I listened to after I brough home my sda's. Most appearant is the increased definition of bass response and improved transition in midrange to highs. Where before things sounded pretty good but missing something, there is clarity and power.
Vocals are dynamic and layered, bass authoritative and tight....

I now understand what having a decent amp does for a system.

Now for the sucks part... I want more. Had I never come to this forum I would not have spent the money to consider an upgrade, and I see now that I to have started on that slippery slope to being a happily broke guy with killer tunes... :D:D:eek:

IMHO its better than wasting it on strippers and booze, atleast this way you have something to enjoy for awhile. lol
Most of them only hear how loud it sounds, and the rest of us hear everything else -

If you're primarily playing music...you might want to delete the Yamaha and put a nice and simple preamp ahead of your TFM-35. The Carver C-2,C-1 & others will sound great, and with SDAs, you don't need Sonic Holography so an inexpensive C-2 will be fine. It's a super simple pre that's built like a tank and usually goes for $50-$75 on ebay or, a great deal on that pre and a Carver TX-2 tuner for $100 is linked below.:)

You definitely DO NOT want to combine the two technologies. Talk about a FUBAR'd sound.......

i am getting a sunfire 200wpc 5 channel for my surround and most likely a sunfire pre to go with it. I still plan on getting silver 7t's for my front channels. once I have all the above in place I will get better surround speakers and cd player...

How bout if I have strippers dancing in one corner of the room while I'm doing blow off the top of my Polks while listening to music? I'd of course have a hooker next to me holding my bottle of booze...lol
