LSi9 compares to RT800i???
I have a pair of RT800i for over 8 years. I want to upgrade to better speakers. How do you compare the LSi 9 or LSi 15 to RT800i as an upgrade?

Totally different sounding speakers. The rt800's are more theater like speakers as the Lsi's are more musical refined speakers.

My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
I have RT800i front matched with a LSIC in my HT room. They sound great together. The LSIC is a 4 ohm speaker. I run them on a Yamaha RX-V2300 set at 6 ohms. I don't have a problem doing this because I don't crank it way up. I don't need to when watching movies they are plenty loud enough. The optimum way is naturally to have all the speakers and impedence the same. I did not know the LSI series is 4 ohm speakers until after I bought it. If you want to do it right you should have all LSI speakers and then buy a high powered amp at 4 ohms. It will get costly. You would be better served to go with the RTA6. It is a newer speaker in the RT line and it is 8 ohms. Just something to keep in mind.Polk HT system 1: LSIC, LSI25 mains, LSI F/X rears, Lsi F/X rear centers,
Yamaha RX-V2500 System, Carver A753 3 channel amp.
Polk HT system 2: , SRT system with f/x 1,000's rear speakers on 7.1 system currently using Onkyo TX-RZ820 receiver, powered by Sunfire Grand Theater amp
Polk Speaker collection: SDA SRS 1.2tl x 2, SRT system, SDA SRS 2 P/B, SDA 2A, SDA 1C Studio, SDA CRS+, Monitor 7B & 4, SRS 3.1tl, RTA 15tl, LS90, LSI 9 -
I use Sony STR-DA2400ES receiver which can handle 4 ohm (for center and surrounds). I also have Adcom GFA-555 for front speakers so I think LSi will be ok. I did listen to RTi A7 and A9 but I did not like their sound. My RT800i sounds much better than the RTiA series. If I upgrade, I will upgrade to LSi (maybe VM 30) or other brand names.
