Thanks! I appreciate it 100%
I have them cranked up while Im at work to speed up the burn in - repeat for 8-10 hours a day wont hurt Im sure!
Im pretty happy so far!- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
At about 40-50 hours in the burn in process...
The speakers have REALLY opened up -- that tweeter is SICK, downright nasty sick. The amount of detail is amazing. It is a much cleaner tweeter than the revelator, for sure.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
How well are the speakers integrating into your room? Did you have to tweak anything or add any treatments? The reason I ask is that its often tough to make a big speaker sound as it should in a tiny room.
-
My room has oddly good acoustics --
But I just put them in the placement I had the 7u in and I was very pleased with the results. I did have to plug the ports - it was loading up TO MUCH in my room and causing the voices to sound chesty.
But they dont sound 100% like they should, nor does the 7u. I've heard the 7u in a big room and that some is some of the best sound Ive heard. The D2 is bringing some of those qualities to my small room - so I can only imagine them in a big room.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
That's cool . . . so Tyler's speakers are fairly versatile then? Would you agree?
-
Most definitely -- it took me about a year or so to get the 7u where I liked it in the room... but every position they were in sounded GOOD if you know what I mean?
I'm just glad the D2 worked in a similar position -- because moving around 140 pound speakers would get annoying real fast!- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -

Versatile is nice, but what is the sound like compared to other speakers that you may know. They sure look cool!!!
-
I've heard several different brands ---
Definitive Tech BP10B - BP6b ---- the Tylers is far more detailed -- not near as boomy - far more refined, better seperation and staging
Polk Audio RTi70, RT35i, RT25i, RT5, etc --- about the same as above\
Polk Audio SDA SRS 1.2TL --- similar staging properties - maybe not as wide, height is the same. But the Tylers have FAR more detail and texture from what I've heard in all circumstances.
The Tylers are just great speakers.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -

Hey Trey, has Ty said what the optimal room is for those puppies? My bro is looking for some new speakers and his wife refuses to let him get something without boxes.
-
Judging by the speakers themself --
They would need to be in a room probally 15-20x15-20x8-10 to really sing right. They need 2-4 feet of behind them 100% for that rear port to breathe
Ty gave me a GREAT deal with some free monitors and some other things as well. So i wont disclose those prices.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -

I just wanted to update this --
The D2 is going back to Ty -- I've tried every position known to man and in my room I just cannot tame that bass to get it to work. Ty is going to send me a cap to add to try to tame the bass... but if this does not work - a drive to TN again to swap will be in order....
Chances are it will be a Super Tower pair -- with the new style enclosures. Seas Excel and Seas Milenium(sp) tweeter. Rosewood finish, no black top cap.
Will have to see how those caps work. It is a shame though, I have tried everything - placement... pulling them in the middle of the room and the bass is just to much -- it is accurate and textured, very tight but incredibly overpowering...
So... what can ya do!?
The Super Towers wont have those problems since it is 4 midbasses instead of 2 woofers, 1 midbass. So that should do the trick.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
personally. i think they are to much speaker for your bedroom.. you need your own bigger space to make a speaker that large work.
I bet it was hella fun listening to them though.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

I would not give up yet. Try some room treatment. From the looks of the pictures you are probably loading the corners too much. Had a similar issue with my room. Auralex sells some great foam corner treatment. You install a 1 foot square foam block in the top corners then add foam runners from that point down to the floor. It will not only improve bass but everything else dynamics and clairity. Big improvement for my room.
-
I have gone down a path like that before. I call it denial. lol. I can throw x amount of money for such and such to work. And even then it is not garunteed...
So I would rather just try a different set if these caps do not tame it.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
The speakers in my current listening room only have 1 10" Seas aluminum woofer in each cabinet and have no problem pressuring a room twice the size of yours. You could probably get away with a large pair of monitors in that room."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. Ditto. Hold onto the speakers and get rid of the room. +1,, check out that sig too.;)JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut) -
I'm only 20. No hurry for me to move out. Especially when I only sleep at home and nothing else.
I know I do not need alot of speaker to reproduce bass. I definitely do not like monitors though.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -

I think you're on the right track Trey. Get rid of that speaker if it doesn't work in your room. If they sounds just ok, then you will not be happy at all and constantly question whether you've made the right decision. -
^^^ Thats precisely why I am reluctant to "make them work"
I've done that before and have always been unhappy. But I think the Super Towers will be great - I love midbasses- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -

Wow, times have really changed. I couldn't wait to turn 18 so I could venture out on my own. Unless there were mitigating circumstances, it was an expectation to drive at age 16 and leave home at 18. I don't recall any of my friends who remained at home beyond 18 unless they were enrolled in a local college.
OK, back on topic --
Sid -- seems like you've made up your mind about returning the D2's. Why not save your money and keep the 7u's?HT/2-channel Rig: Sony 50 LCD TV; Toshiba HD-A2 DVD player; Emotiva LMC-1 pre/pro; Rogue Audio M-120 monoblocks (modded); Placette RVC; Emotiva LPA-1 amp; Bada HD-22 tube CDP (modded); VMPS Tower II SE (fronts); DIY Clearwave Dynamic 4CC (center); Wharfedale Opus Tri-Surrounds (rear); and VMPS 215 sub

I hope he's not regretting selling the 7us. Been there . . . -
I can financially leave home and be fine --
But like I said, I never do anything really that requires a home and my Mom is otherwise alone and she needs help doing things she can't otherwise do -- so it works out.
And the 7u did not sell, the guy backed out so I still have them for the moment.
As for why not keep the 7u? The D2 is a better speaker, so I now know there is A better speaker out there, I just have to find one now that works best for me...- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit. -
Have you heard the D3? it looks a bit smaller and may not be too much in the bass dept.
-
I own the 7u and the D3 is essentially the same thing as what I have now. So if the D3 is anything like my 7u (which the D2 sounds very similiar in the mids and highs - so I would say it would) it is an awesome speaker!
However, I am just looking for just a bigger speaker with a little more bass...
I do not want a subwoofer in my system for 2 ch if I can help it.- Not Tom ::::::: Any system can play Diana Krall. Only the best can play Limp Bizkit.
