What is PURE AUDIO button and indicator?

    I quote from manual

"Selects the Pure Audio listening mode. The indicator
lights up when this mode is selected. Pressing
this button again selects the previous listening
    mode."

I dont get it and can anyone of you help explain more clearly? What do i need use it for?? All i know that my 14 mos son, Mason love press that button becuz it has blue led light.

Pure Audio bypasses the surround channels, and all of the video circuitry, so that the only thing the receiver is doing is producing sound in the front two channels. Makes for much cleaner sound, that isn't fouled up by all the other things in the AVR.

That's more for music listening. It bypasses the video circuitry, so you can't use it during movies. It's just to reduce the possibility of background noise being created by all the other circuitry.

Your wife might like it when she's listening to music though.

edit-it also shuts off the display on the front of the receiver to further reduce the possibility of background noise.

No, when the blue lite is on that means pure audio is selected, the 805s screen should be blank at that time

You only need to hook it up if you plan on using the radio. I have mine hooked up, but that's because I listen to the radio semi-frequently.

I wish my 606 had Pure Audio mode. The European 606's have it...but for some reason it got left out of the North American 606's...not sure why. Seems like kind of a weird move on their part.

edit to post number 3-Pure Audio doesn't bypass the surround channels, just the display and video circuitry.

You might not want to cut it shorter. Sometimes you have to move it around to get better reception, so you'll probably want that slack in the wire.

Yeah, I'm using the one that came with it. It's not the greatest antenna in the world, but it does the job for me. AM radio is usually pretty easy to tune in. If anything you'd possibly want a better FM antenna.

If your wife says it doesn't matter, I'd probably just leave it unhooked. Antennas can introduce possible sources for noise to get into your receiver.

I'm gonna guess it's a digital coax audio cable. If it's one that's about the thickness of a spaghetti noodle, replace it. It's a piece of crap...lol

Digital coaxial audio cable...it's for hooking up a DVD player to your receiver.

I'm gonna guess that it's an extremely cheap one too...so you'd be better off replacing it with a higher quality one. Bluejeans, monoprice and signal cable all have nice offerings for good prices. A composite(yellow) video cable will work as well.

Yup, both are already on that simple route :D

    But..........

I am going to hook up composite wires to see if DVDR will encode closed captioned, because HDMI wont.

ps3 is hooked to vcr/dvr mode via hdmi. I renamed the source to Blu-ray, PS3 is more blu ray player to me than gaming, i play games but not often.

Wii is going to be for game mode input.

I need that help again, i apologize for not finding the thread.
