Going to a different movie than you paid for

Last weekend, my 7 year old son and I went to the movies. I told him all the movies that were playing. He wanted to see Mall Cop. He was sure of this. Once we got the tickets and headed towards the theater, he changed his mind and wanted to see Hotel for Dogs. Didn't seem like a big deal to me, we went to see Hotel for Dogs after buying a ticket for Mall Cop.

Anyone else ever do this?

Right? Wrong? Who cares?

I've done it several time. I see absolutely no harm or foul in doing so.
I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. Just remember, they can buy anything but they can't buy backbone. Don't let them forget it. Thank you.Herman Blume - Rushmore

I go to a local multi-theater that is so poorly run they don't care if people pay for one matinee, stay for hours, and go to every movie there in turn....

:p:p:p:p:p:p I think EVERYONE should do that. Mess with their books!
Seriously! Instead of everybody going to see a Lucas flick, y'all BUY ticket's to some foreign movie with subtitles! Then go see the George film. When the receipt's come in, George will be "WTF!":D

one of the theaters here that has GREAT equipment is a seat specific theater........

otherwise, i don't see a problem with it unless you end up sticking around for 3 or 4 flicks and pay for one......

I've done that a few times myself...I don't see any harm in it. It'd still cost the same amount anyway no matter which movie you're seeing. As long as the theaters not packed and you're taking the last two seats or something like that...lol

Do you have more details regarding you viewpoint? What are your thoughs about how this doesn't demonstrate integrity?

The only thing I can think of is:

Movie theater doesnt care - they got their dollar.
Studio for Hotel for Dogs was "cheated" - I saw their product and they received no compensation.

Studio for Mall Cop got a freebie - they got my money and I did not get their product.

If it was the same studio, it's a wash I would think...

As long as one of the movies wasn't a sellout - IE you're not somehow depriving someone of a seat - it's not a huge deal. Technically you are stealing from one studio and paying another for a product that you didn't actually use, so unless they're the same studio it's "wrong" in theory but... in a pretty minuscule way, really.
If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

If the theater is not sold out and there's empty seats, pay for one, go see a handful. An empty seat is just that, so use it.
    If...
Ron dislikes a film = go out and buy it.
Ron loves a film = don't even rent.
