I did a search on this forum for some information on this sub, but didnt really find any reviews on it. Anyone have one? Care to share your experience with it....good or bad. Looking to upgrade my sub, but no one in Albuquerque carries Polk except the lower end stuff at Best Buy. I am also considering another Klipsch unit.

Very nice hard hitting sub. Definately a winner in my book. Not as loud as I would like but overall I'm very pleased. I was considering SVS,EPIK,HSU but went with the micropro 4000 because of its size.

Will you be using the sub for Music, Home Theater or both?

It's a much better subwoofer than the Klipsch RW10.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

NICE set u leroyjr. I really wish I could hear one before I buy one. I have heard the Klipsch RT12d and OMG it can shake windows...seriously, and still maintain very good musical quality. I was hoping to see if anyone here has heard both. I havent heard any others.

Everytime I see a picture of those, it amazes me how small they are.

Despite their size though...they kick ****. I've only listened to one a few times before at my local Polk dealer...sounded awesome though. I watched through a bunch of the better action scenes in Iron Man with it going...and it hit hard.

I'm sure it is...costs three times as much as one too and has about 3 times the power...so it should be a better subwoofer. I wasnt comparing the two. I was simply asking for OBJECTIVE input, based on actual listening experiences, rather than a two bit response.

My theater room is (18x14) and it causes my projector to shake during movies and song peaks. It even flips the picture upside down at times.
(projector owners you know what I mean).

Wow...that cant be good for it, can it? I'm thinking of getting one and trying it out, and see if I like and return it if I am not thrilled with it. I really like that it is so stealthy small!

The projector has a ball of some kind in it that senses if it's upside down or setting upright well with my projector being upside down the picture is corrected to show rightside up. When the bass hits hard the little ball jumps causes the picture to rotate upside down for a second.

    Hope I didn't confuse you.

Not married (thank god) but my girlfriend (14 yrs)thinks I'm crazy, but who cares because it's my money. Just got a nice pair of SDA's and "THE GIRL" laughed when she seen the size. The thing is she's always saying I'm crazy for spending that kind of money on TV's, Speakers, and furniture but she's the first person bragging when someone comes over.

hobby habit ....... yup it is ....

Leroy , Have you tried using one of those little platforms for that beautiful sub ?? Sitting on solid ground , would that make a difference in the volume or sound ?? ( instead of the thick carpet ? )

No haven't tried anything yet but one thing I can tell you is with having the passive radiator on the bottom if I lift the sub up a couple inches the bass hits a lot harder. The carpet must be resticting the sound of the Passive radiator. Might try a "sub dude " or whatever its called.

Is it bass across the spectrum or a certain frequency(s) that hits just the right way in your room?

Only last weekend did I finally get the uPro4K hooked up in my HT rig. replacing the RW-10d. First for my room being all open with cathedral ceilings and open to the upstairs, kithchen, etc., I have a hard time with acoustics. I have to say that the Klipsch RW-10d wow'ed me. It was light years ahead of the 120w Sony sub I had. I was impressed with the Klipsch, esp since its not that big.

That being said-with the uPro4k hooked up, now I know what people mean when they say it felt like somebody kicked their couch.:D:cool: Man this thing has some impact!! I was watching a Lifetime movie the other night :o and there was a gunshot. Holy crap I never thought I would have that kind of reaction watching a Lifetime movie. felt like a kick in the chest :cool:.
The sub bass from this thing is definitely a different experience. Its hard to explain, its like I don't hear too much sub bass but its really there when it needs it. Like it's not overpowering through out the whole show/movie, but when there's a fall or gunshot-WOW.

And surprisingly its almost smaller in overall size than the Klipsch. I'll see if I can get a pic of the two side by side (camera is on the fritz).

I'm still in the process of setting it up with the Velo SMS-1, the Onk and I also need to try out its own EQ as well (as soon as I find the dang mic:( ). But so far I'm impressed.

One con with it is that you use buttons to turn the volume up or down and there is no level to show you how far up or down you have it. I haven't quite figured out yet how to set the volume at 50% for example. I would prefer to see a dial, but I guess since it has a remote they had to do it that way.
Only other issue I have so far is I am hearing what sounds like port noise when its running through some tests at high volume-high excursion-but I really haven't looked into that issue yet. I don't hear it during normal movie or TV shows-so not a priority.

Again, I haven't finished playing yet, but initially I played Hunter by Bjork and it didn't rattle the house like the Klipsch did, but to be fair each were in totally different environments. When I get the chance when nobody's home I'll try the uPro4K with Hunter again on the same playing ground.
I've also found that so far it seems that I have to have the Polk sub volume turned what seems like way up and the SMS-1 volume up higher than I had it with the Klipsch (35 rather than 15) but with less output from it. Again-I'm not fully setup yet so I'm withholding judgement.

Actually, the true test will be when CaligulaPolk gets over here and lets me know how the two subs feel. :D

    MMadden28,

the blinks represent the volume on the sub. Example 2 solid blinks followed by 3 fast blinks =23 with 40 being the max. Hope this helps. Also try turning the frequency down to help get rid of the cone noise at higher volumes. (60-80 hz is good).

One more thing what the hell are you doing watching LIFETIME?:p

Crap. I figured that the blinks had something to do with the volume. I hate that. Reminds me of X10 remote programming. Uhg. Can you tell I didn't RTFM yet? :o

Er uh, did I say I was watching Lifetime? Oh no, I meant my wife was watching Lifetime and I just happened to be in the room at the time....:p
