I think I'm gonna make myself an honest man...
I'm ready to pull the trigger on some Polk Lsi15's. Gotta unload my C-9's first though; it's about time I got legal around here.
I have been looking at the Lsi15's for quite a few years, it's time I think to get'r done.

Quit thinking about it and just do it!

I realize it's probably a lateral move (though I'm not completely convinced of this), but I'm after the Lsi sound--the Polk sound. I spoke in the past of moving into the $5k/pr range of speakers, but I'm just not gonna take my nirvana that far. I'm very satisfied as is, this is more of a flavor change. I also seriously considered Magnepan 1.6/QR's, but I have been always a little skeptical of magneplanars ability to play rock at the levels and punch I like.
My decision is in no way written in stone---I'm always looking at other alternatives; in fact I was peeking at the ACI Sapphire XL's again this morning...hehe, I'm all over the map.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -
Didn't I see a pair of Dynaudio contour 1.3 mkIIs for sale around here??? I'm thinking this is a better choice.
the Lsi15's are a very nice speaker. I think you would be happy with them. Anyone should be who likes very versatile speakers. I think with the right control and power, they are pretty damn good at there price point. I prefer them over the Lsi9's all day long and probably 3 times on Sunday.Dan
My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
I gotta say that the LSi15s are no slouch. I can crank them up and they are plenty loud, and thats without the benefit of external amplification.
Ultimately it comes down to tonal preference, and it sounds like there's gonna be a new sheriff in town.Do you hear that buzzing noise? -
I'm wondering why it took you so long to unload them in the first place, let alone what you'll eventually choose next.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Get a pair of VM30's with a pair of Micro 4000's
I heard this combination of PF08 and it was amazing.
Maybe you missed it, but he's not interested in spending 5k. BTW, I could think of many more "amazing" choices in that price cateragory.
Steve,
I think you'll be happy with the 15's. Since I got rid of my SVS PC Ultra's awhile ago(thanks opus;)), I've been using just the 15's and they do amaze me at how much bass they do reproduce. I always hear people state that the built in sub is sloppy sounding, well I disagree, I have plenty of power feeding them and the bass sounds very tight and articulate to me. I believe the LSi series is the best value Polk has in it's current line-up. -
After years of "looking" it's hard to beat the value/performance/build quality of the Lsi15. I'm not interested in bookshelf/sub systems, and even less interested in booksheves only. I'm a tower guy. I like big speakers with BIG sound.
I haven't had an opportunity to hear the 15, but I have heard the Lsi9's and liked them very much, sans their tendency to compress at high volumes--so the Lsi15 was the next logical step. I have a LARGE listening room that is an open floor plan consisting of the family room, dining room, and kitchen in one large area. It measures about 36' deep by 18' wide, with 8-14' vaulted ceiling.Source: Bluesound Node 2i - Preamp/DAC: Benchmark DAC2 DX - Amp: Parasound Halo A21 - Speakers: MartinLogan Motion 60XTi - Shop Rig: Yamaha A-S501 Integrated - Shop Spkrs: Elac Debut 2.0 B5.2 -

For the money, the 15's are your ticket. -
What about going used? You could get a better speaker & still stay w/in your price range...
Zero pointed me toward Aerial Acoustics Model 6's - $4000 speakers new - & I got them for for about the price of LSi 15's new.
