Little Feat's "Dixie Chicken" LIVE album. The entire concert and not the short version. Genre? I guess it would be southern rock mixed with a little bit of jazz. I have listened to this album ever since I was a little rugrat and it keeps getting better and better with every upgrade to the rig. I'll never get tired of listening to it.

Sheesh, with so many, I'll just throw one classic out:

Jackson Browne - Late For The Sky

I'd throw that one out, too.

    Kidding.... kidding!

Eiye, yeigh, yeigh. Don't I feel like the donkey. To answer your question, yes. The one with the tomato hanging out on the hammock.

I must have about 6 copies of this in different formats and different lengths. "Don't bogart that joint" is one of my favorite sing-a-long tunes. "Dixie Chicken" and "Apolitical Blues" are close runner-ups.

My mom and dad were lucky enough to attend that concert. Lucky dogs. My dad told me that when the song "Don't bogart that joint" came on, folks just started throwing joints up on the stage. After the song was over, the band took a break and enjoyed some of the crowd's offerings. Then they got back to jamming.

I haven't heard any version record that part of the concert.

Yes! That's one of my favorite Dylan albums...I have a lot of favorite Dylan albums though...lol

I'm also gonna have to say that I couldn't live without my 16 disc Bob Dylan hybrid SACD box set. I just got it for Christmas, and it's already one of the primary staples of my daily listening regimen. I highly recommend that box set for any Dylan fan. It's a great introduction to Dylan to, if you've never listened to a lot of his stuff.

As my vintage, pedigreed SDA's cried out for vintage, pedigreed music on this cold winter's night, I read your thread. And for authentic vintage, nothing but analog would do. I warmed up the Thorens and started thumbing through the vinyl.

Sabbath? Beatles? Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin? Genesis, Hendrix, Tom Petty, Whitesnake? Rainbow, King Crimson, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Jeff Beck? Jerry Lee Lewis, Clapton, McCartney?

Ah, there it . . . Robert Plant . . . Pictures at Eleven . . . A classic that mixes everything/everyone from the line above (and more) into 8 absolutely listenable rock / blues / jazz tracks.

The lineage, the pedigree, it's all there.

Robbie Blunt's guitar work is impeccable. Robbie did session work with Julian Lennon, Tom Petty and others before joining Plant. He now does a lot of work with Phil Collins.

Jezz Woodroffe fills an incredible amount of soundspace with his phenomenal keyboard work. His years working with Black Sabbath when Ozzie was still generally coherent, and later work with Phil Collins after Genesis ran its course put Jezz in superstar territory.

Paul Martinez helps put down the strong bottom needed to complement Plant's voice. Martinez played with some powerful bands like the super-group Paice, Ashton and Lord (with the Deep Purple, Whitesnake, Jerry Lee Lewis, George Harrison, Eric Clapton and Paul McCartney connections).

The rest of the bottom was filled on 6 of the 8 tracks by the most excellent stick work of Phil Collins giving plant a hand during a week or two off from his stunning solo career after Genesis.

The other two tracks were drummed by the legendary Cozy Powell. Powell worked with Keith Emerson (The Nice) and Greg Lake (King Crimson) and they were briefly billed as Emerson, Lake and Powell after Carl Palmer followed other interests. Powell also did the heavy lifting for Ritchie Blackmore when he left Deep Purple and formed Rainbow. He later drummed for Jeff Beck. The ultra-talented Powell was to replace John Bonham as Led Zeppelin's timekeeper after Bonham's untimely death, but Plant, Page and Jones soon realized the grief was too much to handle and they simply could't go on with the band.

This somewhat obscure album is surely worthy of the SDA, and worth a listen if any one of the artists above piques your interest !!!

DSOM 5.1 and Genesis the Lamb Lies Down on Broadway are more mainstream and hard to beat.

I would have to go classic and say:
    Beach Boys - "Pet Sounds"

    Others on my list include:
    Tool - "Lateralus"
Black Crowes - "Shake Your Money Maker"
Rush - "2112" and "Moving Pictures"
    Etal

Too many to really narrow it all down.
Someone once told me that if I didn't turn my music down I'd be deaf by the time I was 30. Well I'll be 30 soon and I can still hear just fine.
