Where do I find drivers for an SDA-2?

I had a 6501 driver lock up on me; another one sounds a bit raspy when I push on it....

Where do I find new drivers?
How do I make certain I'm getting the correct replacement?

The locked-up speaker is out of an SDA-2 dated May 30 1985; it's labeled "Driver MW 6501" and on the Res. line someone wrote 23KR. What's significant and what isn't??

Thanks!

Malcolm

ps- it's really, really quiet around here with non-functional speakers. HELP!

Yep- the old SDA-2's with three mids and two tweets.

Both damaged drivers are on the Right speaker (same one that had the tweet wired wrong when the original owner replaced some silver dome tweets)

Would slipping one or two "new" speakers in make it sound different from the other side? Does any one recommend symmetrical replacement?

Or should I avoid "new" drivers and look for used "original" drivers??

Used would get them to sound symmetrical if you can find them.I tried replacing 2 drivers in my 2Bs and they did not sound the same.So a week later I had all new mids and after a few weeks of break in they sounded better than ever. You should replace them all to get the best results. You will be happy you did later. It will run you about 300.00 though.

If you do get all new ones, please list the old, working ones on the For Sale thread. A few people, me included, would be interested in buying them.:)

Okay- I bought four old ones. I cannot wait to get these things up and running again. I'm not sure how paranoid I should be about other drivers going out... I'm thinking if I don;t move them around I'm probably safe.

I figured it would leave me with one or two spares. Is it fairly common to need a backup driver every now and then??

Unless you are bottoming out the drivers, or they get dropped they last a long long time. I only blew two out of nearly fifty vintage MW's, and that was being reckless.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks
