Hi:
I got the Marantz SR6003, Also I have the Onkyo 706, Im testing both. But for some reason when I play a CD by using the PS3 the subwoofer does not work, but when I put a BluRay Movie the Sub works perfect.

Any ideas how to fix it? Because on the Onkyo I can hear the sub in Music as well in Movies. I verified the settings on the Marantz and the sub is ON, and there's another settings named "Audio" is set as "Main + Sub".

Another thing, I did my own preset on the EQ, but when I put it its the same sound as a flat setting. What's wrong? Or is my Receiver damaged?

Im doing benchmark and test between both, I will post it later as soon as I can find a way to fix that sub problem.

Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks to all

Ok, I found the solution for this problem. Just in case any one consider to buy a Marantz SR6003.
On the speaker setup, when choosing the size of your Front Speakers, it should be set to "Small". What Marantz means with Front "Large Speakers" are Speakers that has Internal Subwoofers. SO even if you even have Polks RTiA9, they are considered as Small Speakers for this kind of settings. You set your front speakers as small and will have your sub working with CDs.

Another thing for PS3 users. If you try to use the "Treble and Bass" Buttons you see that no matter how you change it, it wont work, why? You have to set in Music Settings, select the Audio CD Output Frequency as 48kHz. Same happens with Preset Equalization. To make it works, the CD Frequency should be set to 48kHz.

Now Im happy with my Marantz!

I'm not familiar with that receiver...but I'd think you could still use the sub even with the speakers set to large. There should just be an option to turn the sub on or off in the AVR's menu.

That's how it is with my AVR anyway, like I said, I'm not familiar with yours.

Javy, look in the speaker size menu, not the preference menu. With the speakers on large there's a bass mix setting of mix or both. I think both is what you want to get lows to the sub with stereo sources, but I don't use it. I think the audio: main + sub setting you were messing with in the preferences is for putting LFE into your fronts with surround sources.

I just use large (no sub), for stereo and small with 60 Hz crossover for surround sources.
