Hmmmm...looking at the possibility of a new car

Gonna have to get something in the next year of so. Been looking around and I honestly want to wait until 2010 cause then I can get one of these:

Chip_Foose_Ford_Flex.jpg

but in black. And with the twin turbo EcoBoost 3.5L V6 making 355+ horses but getting 22+ MPG in a 4500 pound car.

And instead of those wheels, these wheels:

71-lipLaceWire.jpg

with either one of these tires, preferably the white wall though:

hi_23.jpg

A set of lowering springs to put it down in the weeds a bit

and then get flames painted on or by way of vinyl car wrap.

Get a cat-back exhaust to give it a bit of a rumbly sound.

Yeah, big pimpin' right there!

The other option is same wheels and tire set only blue instead of red with the lowering springs or air bags and a royal blue color with wood paneling and a continental kit on the tailgate.

Yeah, I keep looking at trucks 'cause of the usefulness but that Flex is essentially a tall station wagon, kinda like an old Woody. It just keeps calling me. If the pricing holds out, I might just get one. Then I'll have to load it up with all kinds of audio equipment!

I like the Flex, a lot.

I like the looks of the new flex but it seems it looks alot like a shortened Range Rover to me.

The customizing ideas you have Jstas are real cool. I could definately see those wheels and the wide white walls on the Flex.

I have been eyeing those as the anti-minivan option, and they look pretty good. That Ecoboost engine looks pretty sweet and something I could be proud to drive (or my wife :p).

    PLEASE!

You can't do this to a Range Rover!

You might want to wait and see what the gas TAX is gonna be in a few months. Apparently, the automakers, that WE just bailed out, want an increase in the Fed. gas tax, to, basically FORCE us to buy those gas sippers.
I refuse to argue with idiots, because people can't tell the DIFFERENCE!

Why would they want us to do that? Their huge profits come from selling gas guzzling trucks and SUVs.

I kinda like the styling of the Flex, and that engine sounds efficient, but it reminds me a lot of the Scion xB, in larger size ... It must have the aerodynamics of ... well ... of a brick ...?

Noooo! Please don't hurt me Jstas! I was merely in jest! I like it! I like it! It's gorgeous, it is!

Actually, the Flex is pretty slippery. I gotta find the numbers. I read a story about it around Christmas when I was stuck at work and bored out of my skull. Aerodynamics isn't as much about surface area as it is airflow management. The Lamborgini Countach has more aerodynamic drag than a Flex or Scion xB for that matter.

I'm sorry, but I think those things are hideous. My opinion of this car doesn't in any way reflect my overall opinion of you as a person though, so all is still good with the universe.

I saw one driving down the road and just couldn't get into it at all.......and if you get wood paneling, then I KNOW you're out of your effin mind........just sayin.

Wow that is one butt ugly thing  Kinda looks like an extended Scion to me at least.

Of course beauty is in the eye of the beholder so if it looks nice to you by all means get one. :)

Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D

Well, I see the Scion thing too, as already mentioned, but if I had to choose between this and a Honda Odyssey, or a Toyota Sienna (or whatever they're called), not to mention a Chrysler T&C, I would take this without hesitation. I much prefer it to the Exploder too, or Highlander & Co and whatever those other bland mid-range SUVs are called.

If I were really in the market for something like this, my big questions would be about the interior styling, and how good it was. If they can get that right, they might be on to something with this. A nice advanced transmission would help too, and some other techy features that kick things up a notch IMO, as well as good road manners. Is that all too much to ask?

No, it's not a joke and I can't help but think that a_mattison, snow, SBrown712 and TouchOfEvil are deliberately being douchebags just to antagonize me.

Oh and snow, the rolleyes were meant towards you too as a means of not lashing out and being called a big meanie yet again by people who take the Internet way too seriously.

Now brettw22, it's his MO to be that way and we have a kind of "understanding". It's come from years of abuse dished out towards each other. Not many other people get that benefit.

The setup you are talking about would have plenty of style. Not my style; wouldn't want to drive that everyday for years, but it would be pretty rad if you are going for flashy.

Lmaooooo. You say that the rolling eyes icon was being nice, then in the previous sentence You call me a douchebag?

Actually I simply stated my oppinion of the vehicle. :) If I was being a douchebag I would also tell you that as you are roaming around in your new flex that people are going to look at you point and laugh and probally if the vehicle is empty wait around however long it takes for you to return just to see what kind of person would drive a vehicle that wouldndt even look good in the dark after the bars closed even if you put a dress and lipstick on her :D

But of course me being the kind hearted thoughful fellow I am I would never say that lol.

I'm glad someone likes the flex, I kind of like it and I thought I was crazy for it. build quality is suposed to be damn good...........I would imagine it will definitly get the ecoboost down the road

as for the rims...........there's no in-between, its either going to be absolute Badass or shockingly hokey

leaning toward badass just for the unique factor, but I'm not 100 % of course, I'm not arrogant enough to thing my opinion is that important :p

I got a close look at one of these today, briefly. I think it's a lot lower than a Range Rover/Explorer/Tahoe. It really does seem like a modified station wagon, as Jstas first suggested, with absolutely all the convenience of a minivan, but without the soccer mom looks. It's an interesting vehicle IMO, without the stupid dorky appearance of the Honda Element mentioned earlier.

Apologies to Element owners BTW, I know their owners love them and that they have some really conveinent design features!

OK, excuse the half-assed photoshop job, I didn't put that much effort in.

This is what I'm thinking. I didn't add the flames because it was ruining the perspective so use your imagination. Also, the wire wheel images were coming out too blurry when shrunk so to get the red wheel effect on the white walls, I just used a picture of a solid steel wheel painted red.

    my_flex.jpg

It's supposed to mimic this kind of a look:

    ACF7BE.jpg

Add some chrome exhaust tips to the back with the brushed aluminum tailgate insert, flames on the front end streaking down the sides and a white top and it'd look positively bitchin'! Add the fact that it'd have a twin turbo 350 horse engine and AWD and it'd scoot pretty good too. 0-60 in around 7 seconds and run through a 1/4 mile in the low 14's. Not to mention 22-24 MPG and it'd still haul a few sheets of plywood in the back and tow 5,000 pounds of junk, like an open trailer and this pig...if I ever get it done:
