In-Ceiling surround speakers

I'm new to this, so I'd like to ask for some recommendations on in-ceiling surround speakers. I presently have two Bose 191 speakers mounted in the ceiling and I would like to install two more speakers to complete the room. Should I replace the Bose with a Polk LC80i? Does anyone have any experience on how these compare.

I have other floor standing Polk speakers and consider them among the best. However, the in-ceiling models are new to me. I appreciate any feedback.

As much as I'd like to recommend Polks :) your system should be as consistent as possible. Sooo, you should match the rears to your fronts and vice versa.

However, if you upgrade to LC80i (ideally, all the way around) I'm sure you'll hear a dramatic improvement.

Thanks for the advice. Are the LC80fx speakers a better choice for HT?

    For the rears, yes.

Watch out for the ohm rating on the LC series - they are 4 ohm rated, so you will need an amplification source up to the task of driving them.

But they are BADASS speakers! I am using three as my L/R/C surrounds.

Thanks Jeeper I have an onkyo 601 (dated). Should I use lc80i's for the front and lc80fx for the rear?

You should look at getting tc or rc series opposed to the lc series. Unless you plan on getting an amp to drive them. The lci is the better series but if your not running a separate amp you wouldn't be getting the nest out of those speakers.

I plan to upgrade my receiver to the Onkyo 806. Based on what you are saying, this receiver would not drive the LC series properly? If not, then I'll replace the bose with TC or RC sereis speakers. I appreciate the advice from everyone.

+1. I had them for my rear speakers and they sound great but make sure that you have an adequate amp. Especially if you run more than one pair.
