Ok I dunno how things work here at CP as far as sell'in things but......

Is it really fair to post something forsale here and 1 or 2 other places at the same time just to come back here and say opppsss it's sold elsewhere?
Maybe it's me but I don't resort to that unless it don't sell one place or the other.
IMHO don't post something at CP and 16hrs later come on and say it's sold off forum.
Esp when 4-5 PPL have posted intrest here at CP in that time frame with no reply from the seller. Cept to say the above.

For a noob that don't look good!

Just say'in

OTOH, I saw a thread going here where the seller sold off site clearly stated he wasn't willing to ship, yet ever offer he got required shipping. If you state you're not going to ship, and you don't get any local bites in a reasonable amount of time, I don't see a problem.

How long should you wait to sell off site, or is it ok to post you have said item on other boards? I've seen that, and it didn't seem to be a problem.
My equipment sig felt inadequate and deleted itself.

I don't wanna start a stir here but this person never said they wern't willing to ship.
To be fair....you got a Polk item and wanna sell....give the PPl at the POLK forum a try.....24hrs no bite then go elsewhere.
    Don't post it...get bites(within 24hrs or less)....don't reply then "yank" the item.

Not fair or right IMHO......brings to mind the donkey with the carrot bit!

It is a gray area, but I think if you give a Polkie discount and state upfront that the item will be listed elsewhere, either immediately or after a specified time period, then I don't see how a seller can be more transparent.

Motzart. It was simply a matter of first responding getting first priority. Please refer me to the section of the Flea Market rules were posting ads in places other than CP at once is forbidden. I intentionally priced my gear to sell very very quickly, and it did.

Obviously, there is no such rule. It's got to do more with the spirit of the FM. Some understand that and some don't.

+1. Polk price should be better and you should state that it's listed elsewhere. IMO of course.

I usually list things here first and with a better price. I don't see anything wrong with listing things elsewhere at the same time though. Mo, sounds like you need a drink.

And I think you've made YOUR intentions perfectly clear. Go whine about it more. I'm sure there will be a deal you can get in on in the future. I don't think whining to me first, and then creating a post whining shows you have this community's interests in heart.

I'm done giving credence to this. I'll try to not let Motzart's behavior affect my perception of other potential buyers on CP.

It's a courtesy to post your sale here first..........usually at a lower price than you would sell to Joe Blow and then after either a predetermined time frame or reasonable time frame to move it along to other sites.

It's poor form, however, not a rule to post a sale in multiple places. It's not in the spirit of how the FM has been run.

Although, posting it here for$**** and then stating it's posted elsewhere for more is an acceptable practice. Again, not a rule.

If it's YOUR gear, YOU can decide where to sell your stuff and for how much. If buyers are expecting that they be granted some blessed price point, then get off your fluffy cloud and slam your **** back to reality.

Just because someone wants to make as much money as possible from their item doesn't make them a bad person. Not everyone is in a situation where they can gift their equipment away to get another piece, so stop acting like babies.

In case my point wasn't clear, it's ridiculous for anyone to EXPECT that they be given discount pricing. When it happens, great (be happy about it and live your life floating above the clouds), but when it doesn't, there's no need to piss and moan because your feelings got hurt due to not getting $10 off.

It was always my understanding that selling something on the FM was like selling to a friend. Give them a fair price and first dibs. If no one bites it's fair game to whoever for whatever.

Some CP members are more courteous, some are not. That's the way it goes. Not everyone on this forum considers themselves 'part of the family'. Some just come to learn, some come with the ultimate goal of selling, some come to bloat, some come to argue, etc. Luckily there are plenty who do treat this place like a 'family'.

That said, when people are motivated to sell something, they have every right to advertise it in multiple places. Who is to say that member doesn't have an equally important relationship with another forum that offers sales listings. They may also be in a hurry to sell, which sounds like it was the case here.

You win some, you loose some.

That said, when I list things, I usually do allow some time for polkies to show interest before listing elsewhere.
For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

Lots of interesting points of view here. My thoughts are that if I sell something in the Flea Market it will most likely be under actual market value for a couple of reasons one being that I like offering a deal to people who have helped me with advice oppinions etc. Secondly it probally isnt going to sell in a forum setting at full market value people in forums expect deals and if the goods are priced too high your wasting your time and CP's space.

I also will not sell to a member that has less than 25 posts unless they have been a member here for at least 2 years and im not giving someone who hasnt spent any time here the same deal that I would someone who has. in my oppinion if they want something from me fine buy it off ebay or audiogon at full price because you simply dont deserve the same deal.

Now of course there is times where either I cant afford to offer up a great deal or it's something that I know that I would have a hard time selling here then off to Ebay it goes.

    REGARDS SNOW
Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D
