This is a phenomenal integrated that I almost purchased instead of the NAD amp I have now. NAD is one of the brands that I think gives the biggest bang for the buck. If this is still around in a few weeks I just may pull the trigger on this one. Been saving my weekly play money to upgrade to a more recent amp and I see no reason why not to go in this direction. Been looking at lots of vintage gear the last few days but I would say NAD is my favorite brand that I can afford without breaking the bank. Great price and great condition. Highly recommended.:D

I am very new to this quality audio game. I probably use more HT than listen to music but I have come to appreciate a quality sound for the latter. I’m in the process of looking for a two-channel amp to supplement the power for my front Rti a5’s. I just exchanged my Onkyo from the 606 to the 806 because it has the pre-outs. Unfortunately, there are very few places for me to sample equipment. I rely mostly on online reviews and descriptions. I’m trying to step up my game on a tight budget. I’ve been most impressed with what I’ve read on the used Rotel and Adcom market. Again, it’s hard to judge these things without a demo. I love what I hear thus far but I would like a little more rich mids and lows.
I’m also doing the bi-wiring thing, so when I do get an external amp is the bi-amping wiring done with two sets from each speaker as well?

I also need some surrounds any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

While you could use the NAD C370 in a HT configuration to power the fronts for HT and also have a quality 2 channel system, you would be better off buying an integrated amp that has a HT bypass input. Why? Because without the HT bypass, you have to calibrate the input from your HT pre-outs to a preset volume level to match your other HT speaker levels (Unity gain). This means that everytime you watch a movie you have to set the NAD C370's volume level to say the 9:00 or 12:00 position or to whereever you calibrated it. This is always a pain can also be very shocking when you go to listen to 2 channel music and forget to turn the volume on the C370 down from the 12:00 position from the last movie you watched. To bi-amp the front speakers you would want two separate amps. In fact, I also have a NAD C270 which is just the amp section of the NAD C370 that I have used to bi-amp my front speakers. To summarize, while the NAD C370 is a great amp and I have used it in the manner that you want too, I have moved on the an integrated with HT bypass and am much happier.

Polkitup2 gave you excellent advice IMO. The C370 is slightly different from an amplifier, which is what you are looking for in your other thread. This is an integrated amplifier, so basically like a receiver, including a remote control, which amplifiers never have, but not a receiver either. It is a pre-pro (for processing) and a true two channel amplifier within the same chassis. A normal amplifier depends on a pre/pro or a receiver (AVR) for volume adjustments and signal input from various components (it has no connection of its own for DVD players, CD players, sat/cable receivers ...), whereas an integrated has it's own volume control, remote control and component audio inputs.

This particular integrated has a toroidal power transformer, which is almost unheard of in a receiver, so just as you cannot usually compare receiver power to amplifier power, you cannot usually compare the power of an integrated amplifier with that of a receiver.

    Just FYI!

so if a receiver had toroidal power transformer (like Marantz), it would be identical, no? And is integrated only for 2 channels? :) i actually didn't know why it's being called integrated. Thanks.

Receiver = amp + pre-amp + tuner in one box
Int Amp = amp + pre-amp in one box
Separates = individual box for each :)
Processor can be built into the box with the pre-amp or int amp or receiver or be separate.
Any of these can be from 1-7.1 channels with 1 (mono block amps) 2 (stereo) 3 (LRC) 5.1 (surround) or 7.1 (surround) being the most common.
    Good luck, Phil
