Are they doing these things on purpose (spreading false info) to sell stuff or are they just incompetent? This was on a page for BD player ad.

I saw that thing too (was it from onecall?), and was confused for a minute or two (but I do have a very small and mostly inactive brain). I think what he may mean is when they show component as "better" than "best", so you have to remind yourself that best is still on the top of the pyramid, and "better" means "better than 'good' or 'fair'". On the whole, they certainly could have done a much better job of presenting the information.

Component can be used for 1080p (BD doesn't support it however). They also forgot to include RGB (+ SCART) which is also in the BEST category.

    :D

Yes, it's Friday and I got nothing better to do than to post meaningless s**t at Clubhouse.

True! And more reasons to be confused!

Good point Sami however very few products will output 1080P over component, XBOX360 comes to mind then even fewer TVs will accept 1080P over component.

I suspect this was intended for the avreage consumer who has no clue about RGB.

Yep, its Friday. Hanging acoustic panals tomorrow, yippie

PS3 is supposed to output 1080p w/ games (but not BD of course). There are a few TV's that accept it as well. Not that many and it's not really important either.

Now, why did they make the 3rd cable (Y) green on component connection? ;)

Panels, I have been meaning to do that as well, just haven't had the time. Nor the energy to do my research on where to place them.

CEA hasn't published a standard for 1080p over component (or at least as of whenever my Oppo manual was written).

That's more just a generic list of whats on the current AVR's. That video connection list seems to be correct to me...

It's at least a little misleading, in that it leads readers to believe all HDMI ports are capable of 7.1 audio.
