I know boring topic, but I am pretty pumped. I used to use the flat rate padded envelopes all the time for shipping cables and such then they took them away.

http://shippingcoach.com/2008/11/20/new-usps-small-flat-rate-box-coming-soon/

Long short the new box is small at 8 5/8″ x 5 3/8″ x 1 5/8″ but its only $4.95, and apparently if you do it on the USPS site its $4.80 w/ delivery confirmation. I shipped a 20oz package last week and it was $8.90, would have easily fit in this box.

In other news:

CES is upon us, among other exciting developments the new Sennheiser HD 800s were announced for the princely sum of $1400.

Ebay sellers can now get negatives removed if they blame it on customs.

I had a third but forgot it

It doesn't take much to get you excited does it?

But on a side note if you use a lot of shipping boxes from USPS they will send you some in packages of 10 or 20 depending on box size.

Their tracking seems to have gotten much better lately too. In my experience, it used to be it would just say something like "notification of package received" until the day after the package was delivered, no updates in between, unlike UPS, FedEx and DHL (R.I.P.). Whereas the last time I tracked an eBay package with USPS it was far more precise, and gave me an accurate idea as to when the package actually shipped and was expected to arrive. Maybe it was just an anomaly though!

I am easily excitable. Moreso when it comes to this kinda stuff, as I was bummed by the recent increase in prices at USPS. I hope others will read this thread and realize they can ship smaller items for <$5 priority. Plus I started collecting knives recently, so instead of paying $9 for priority I can now pay $5. Every little bit helps.

Also for those who don't keep up with shipping news there is the 12x12x5.5 flat rate box which is $12.95. Any weight and any location in the US, used the smaller ones to ship to Hawaii before and Alaska to.

P.S. I love that I am more pumped about a cheap method to ship then the new Senns which are said to be the end all be all best headphones ever created...brought down by god himself.

If you sign up with USPS you can print shipping label and if you got the right form it even is self sticky. :) Better yet if the return address is your address not a business address they the USPS will pick up at your home if you wish. ;)

If not sure if you need the form but it helps, saves on packaging tape if you know what I mean.

Yeah I need a better solution. Taking an autistic 3 YO to the PO can be difficult. She is good in stores, but they have carriages, and I can keep moving:)
