Hi Bigerik. Looks like you're getting involved in a fun project. I've been out of touch on this forum for a bit, but I rebuilt a pair of 1B's not too long ago. Hope these threads help you out:

Good music, a good source, and good power can make SDA's sing. Tubes make them dance.

Actually, my bad, mine are 1C's, but a bit off-spec. There was a big discussion on the first thread as to whether I had 1B's or 1C's, turned out they're the 1C's. But hopefully you can get something out of those threads...

Very glad this thread is here. I just recently purchased a pair of SDA 1Bs and at some point would like to upgrade them.

Can you get those out of the corners? Ideally SDA's should be 3 feet off the wall, side and back. If you bring them closer to the tv, you should notice much improved imaging.

Thats why I like this site...love the tips. Would they be better one on each side of the rear projection?

Thanks. I cringed when I saw that pic.

SDA's do need to be at least 3 feet from outer walls, 4"-1' from the back wall, and not toed in at all. The speakers should be at least 6 feet apart. The listening position should be back about the same as the distance of the speakers, or a little more. If your speakers are 8 feet apart then you should be sitting 8-10 feet back.
    Enjoy.

Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

Yes, the face of the cabinet should be even with your TV, then experiment from there. That applies to all speakers, it's not just a SDA thing.

Follow what the others have said too, move them away from the side walls, no toe in, etc... It may take a while to get them dialed in but you'll appreciate it in the end. Also, consider a area rug.

I believe they'd be better off than how you have them now, but the problem is if you just stick them next to that large tv, the tv will have a similar sonic affect as a wall. In your situation, I'd probably try to keep them 3' off the side walls, but not right up against the tv. You probably would be better off if you have the speakers a bit deeper into the room as the tv, so the tv would be behind the speakers a bit.

Some acoustic treatments and power conditioning as well. Then your wife can be as pissed off at you as ours are at us :D

Just spoke to Kim at polk and he confirmed that it is a 55 paralleled with a 130. 185 total.

Solen has a 56 and a 130, so that is probably the safest bet.

He also thought the 36 Solen in place of the 34 was fine.

So, this part is now looked after!
