I will say that the walnut veneer is nice looking! I have it on my SDA 2B's and it is an exceptionally sharp looking cabinet. My SDA SRS 2's are solid oak and it is grainier and not as elegant a look as the walnut with the black grille cloth.

My SRS2s are in line for a birdseye maple makeover when my shop warms up, along about mid-March:eek:

That would be beautiful. Did you see Nick's Lsi9's at http://www.polkaudio.com/forums/showthread.php?t=73605. Not birdseye, but perfect nonetheless. I like the lighter "Scandanavian" color schemes, but my wife has 100 or more pieces of dark cherry and walnut pieces throughout the house. I mean every headboard, dresser, table, chair, buffet, etc., etc. is dark hardwood!

Holy guacamole, With pickup costs, a few hundred in RDO's and a few hundred more in crossovers, they'll be in 2K territory (but worth it I guess). Maybe the buyer will spare himself the craziness and not start tweaking. Sometimes ignorance is bliss!

Scratch that. $1,581.29 as-is picked up Baltimore.

I hope not because comparing apples to apples beemer's are at $850 with 6 new RDO's (which is like $550 stock) so the eBay buyer overpaid by $1,050.

Maybe that auction did end higher than most that I've seen but not $1050 more than it should have. Those are 2.3TL's not 2.3's, I would have bid no more than $1200, But even at $1581.29 the buyer still got a good deal.

I have 2.3's and what is the diff between them and the 2.3 TL's?

Are you thinking of the difference between the original SRS and SRS 1.2? I've never owned 2.3s, but I have 1.2TLs and thought that 2.3 to change 2.3TL was like the 1.2>1.2TL's in being nearly identical other the tweeters.

Same here. I just purchased SDA SRS 2's at Thanksgiving and have added RDO's, Sonicap caps and mills, Cardas posts and some MIT wires so my budget is shot. The 2.3Tl's were my first choice, but there were zero out there when I got the bug to buy. If I had known Paul at that time, I would actually be a few bucks ahead buying his at $850. He's a good guy, it's a steal, and I don't know why some are on his case. He offered Polkies a good deal and everybody who contacted him basically sh** on him.

OK, not sh**, but backed out of their deals on him . . .

LOL I hear ya, but don't sweat it, I don't.....it goes with the territory. We all want a good deal. I do not believe anyone really **** on me, although some were harsh when I decided after viewing the Baltimore auction to not leave money on the table. These folks would do the same, regardless of what they say......if you were to sell your home, would you sell it for less than market value? Of course not! It's always easy to tell someone else what to do.

I learned long ago the Internet is just that......if you allow yourself to be pissed off by things said here, shut off the computer......life is full of far more important things.

    Las,

If a Polkie had driven to Paul's yesterday afternoon with a fist holding $850 bucks, they would have driven away with a beautiful pair of 2.3TL's WITH 6 X $50 = $300 worth of RDO194-1's already installed with a few hours of burn in. That = $550 WITHOUT the $300 of RDO's.

The Ebay auction closed at $1,581.29 WITHOUT RDO's so I STAND CORRECTED. The eBay buyer spent $1,031.00 too much, NOT the $1,050 I published. Sorry for the $19/$1,050 error.

If you get want to get technical, the installation of the RDO's and burn in time is probably worth another $100.

I PM'd Paul after I saw the auction close to let him know what the "market" on 2.3TL's was doing. The Club had it's chance for well over a month.

Now, let's get back to the good stuff, listening to SDA's !!! :D:D

Actually I had these listed in the sale area here since late August of last year.....

It's all good now.....the talkers can continue to talk, and the auction will run it's course, and the 2.3TL's will be on their way to a new home soon. :)

    Inspiredsports,

You've only been here a very short time, so how would you know what the "market" is for that speaker? From one eBay auction??? The fact of the matter is the 2.3TL's in question sold for a bit more than they normally do, not that they aren't worth it, with the "normal" price range running between $900.00 to $1200.00.

Additionally, when it comes to audio related items, new parts and upgrades do not normally result in a higher sale price. What results in a higher sale price on a site like eBay is when two or more people want the same thing. Paul could put his on eBay at a starting price of $850.00 and get one bid....hell, he could get zero bids or he may get lucky and have a bidding war like the guy in Baltimore got.
I don't know why some are on his case.

The reason some of us got on Paul's case is because he tried to sell his in an auction type sale after seeing the final price for the ones on eBay. Auction type sales are forbidden here.

    Hi Jesse,

Now that's a good and fair question.

First, I own an Internet Development Firm that I started in 1994 and incorporated in 1996 when I quit my day job as a commodities trader. Search Engine Optimization was always my prime passion. Being there in late 1994 in my industry was like being at Polk the day Matt landed his first order to an audio store.

The Internet is an amazing catalog with reams and reams of historical data lurking about. The trick is knowing how to search for and retrieve that data into a usable form. Naturally, Club Polk contains a tiny bit of the historical information that is out there, as does eBay, AudioKarma, Audiogon, Craigslist, YouTube, etc., etc., on and on and on.

As a most simplistic example, http://www.polksda.com/ebay.shtml is just sitting there showing what the "market price" was for various Polk models from late 2004 to late 2005 when the site owner must have lost interest.

I have created some fairly sophisticated "spidering" tools through the years that allow me to track and catalog various "keywords" and "key phrases" into a database. I sold off most of the company, but I still own the rights to these tools.

I've been watching and researching 2.3's for a while since I purchased my SRS 2's (and wished I'd purchased 2.3TL's), so "Polk 2.3TL" is one of the key phrases I've been toying with.

    Greg

PS: If one single share of IBM happened to trade as $X.XX on a given day, by definition that was the "market price".

It's real hard to sell something on a forum for Ebay prices for a couple of reasons, one is your dealing with a far smaller audience not as many people wanting what you have for sale and there are more people local that belong to Ebay than are CP members and the fact that most people on a forum want a better deal than can be had on Ebay in other words there cheap bas****s :D Granted that the orignal $850.00 is and was in my oppinion a great deal and for those that played around well now if they want them they will have to pay more.

This isnt the only forum Paul had these for sale at and im certain that some of those people mentioned belonged to other forums. If Paul puts these up for sale on ebay he will get a better price than here more than likely. Also as Jesse mentioned CP doesnt allow auction style listings for several reasons, im sure people can figure out why, after Paul seen it wasnt a good idea he asked for his For Sale thread to be removed and bravo for him he did the right thing.

The thing is anytime that one of the more sought after larger SDA's show up on ebay within 24 hrs there is a thread about it here so in all likelyhood he would get double exposure both on Ebay and here even if he had never posted a single word about them here :)

    REGARDS SNOW
Well, I just pulled off the impossible by doing a double-blind comparison all by myself, purely by virtue of the fact that I completely and stupidly forgot what I did last. I guess that getting old does have its advantages after all :D
