Is anybody familiar with these?

I just bought a used pair of the X-sls Two way towers.

Just curious if anybody has tried them out and what they think of them.

I just bought these speakers on a whim. I don't know anything about them. I recall always hearing good things about the speakers AV123 turn out though.

Just curious what others think of av123 speakers.

It'll be great to hear what you think! AV123, much like Emotiva, is surrounded be an insane amount of hype, and some controversy also. I may be in the minority, but my experience with Emotiva was a disappointment (I'm talking about the entry level LMC-1 & LPA-1 combo, as you already know, but others reading this may not), so that alone would keep me from listening to the hype about AV123 too much, and specifications certainly don't tell the whole story in either case, I am sure.

Now you can be the guinea pig tester! But how are you going to power them? With a bicycle and dynamo or something? Didn't you just sell your harman/kardon? Never mind Cathy telling you "they will sound better with 200w/ch", they will sound better with any amplification, I am sure, rather than none at all ... or that bicycle thing.
    Alea jacta est!

Thats the fun for me. I like trying out as much gear as possible. As if you didn't already know. I go through more stuff than anybody I know. Its all part of it to me. Its not upgradeitis per say. I just enjoy the knowledge I get from each peice. You never really know until you try it for your self....

I've pretty much sold everything..... And I am about 95% sure I will be getting a Harmon Kardon AVR 254 to power them. At least for now..... I won't have to worry about the load issue with these speakers like I did with the LSi's. They are all sold also by the way.

I'm so excited. All new stuff to play with. New wires. New amp. New speakers. And new sub eventually. Thats probably the next to go.

Really? Really??? I am AMAZED at how some things completly pass by this forum.

These things are HUGE on other forums, garnishing lots of postive posts and many awards from review sites. I have a pair of the X-ls and love them, they do so much right for so little money. Not the end all be all but for the <$200 I paid they always surprise me.

Of the top of my head there were very positive reviews from, Audioholics, GoodSound, Positve Feedback, Affordable Audio, and I many other sites. Do a quick google search, I am sure you can find pages and pages of nothing but praise for this line.

I got the speakers last Friday but I couldn't listen to them until today. I was waiting for my receiver and wires to arrive. Everything arrived and I got it all hooked up today.

I have only watched one movie. But so far there pretty impressive. Especially for there price.

After I spend some more time with them I'll post my thoughts...

Heres a couple picks after I unpacked them...

I would have loved to try these out, especially for the price, just for the fun of it, but I'm pretty much decided on going with LCi ceiling speakers now, whenever I get around to it!

Just get some more for surround sound (since this is in your HT room)! What are you going to do for a center? Can you fit an identical speaker, or are you going to have to get a dedicated center channel speaker?

AV123 carries a whole line of X- series speakers.

I'll be getting there X-cs Center channel speaker for the center.

And I am undecided about the rears . Maybe the X-omni towers. Or another pair of X-sls towers. I'm even throwing around the idea of getting Polks Rtifx surrounds....

Heres a link to the X series speakers..

I have the X-MTM'S and X-CS in my theater room at the moment and they are good speakers for the price. Mine are B stock, but they still look great. I view the X Series as a poor man's Dynaudio. Laid back character with good resolution. They do many things well.

It's been a few years since I owned LSi's, but I recall them being in a totally different class than the X Series even with subpar amplification. The Vifa is hard to beat.
