M&K Reveiw, read for enthusiasm.

My new M&K driver has finally broken in all the way. It is back to the point where it can shake the world and it still sound right. However, time to come out and show the downs and ups of this subwoofer. Comments on their drivers have come around. Time for me to go deeper in what I think about their drivers. Their drivers are good. Good quality, small magnets tho. Their a coated paper with a heavy duty surround. The paper is heavily done. However being a high compliance driver it moves back and forth heavily. In doing so the paper flaps. All M&K subs do this. They only do this on extremely heavy and loud bass segments. But if you listen carefully, you can hear it. This is quite annoying. Now on to the subwoofer amp.
This amp supplied to the subwoofer is pretty awesome. Pumping 150 wats to both drivers, it can power them all the way (on the receiver and half way on the sub amp). THe power is very adequetly rated and the power is used conservidably. In doing this, it can be played loud.
Speaking of loud, Unless you have two M&K subs, and dont have a bed infront of your subwoofer. They can play reasonably loud. Although they are not exactly chest d boom-d-a. Since they are not ported, they dont exactly apply what you can call....punch. But since it isnt ported it is very accurate, in all sense of being accurate. I'll give it that. Its a perfect musical subwoofer. It don't exactly pack the punch for HT tho. This goes along with its not very ajusted. It likes certain music. Like if you play HIP-HOP like Eminem with very loud bass, in months the driver will be blown. I found this out, although I am the second owner. The first owner (My Dad) played it for 13 years at extremely loud volumes, and that probally killed alot of its life. In other words, the reliabilty is very good on this subwoofer. M&K's CS is awesome at that also. They pay for shipping on all parts you need. (That is if they ship it to you! LOL!) Well, I will give this subwoofer one thing, besides the fact its not a -blow-out-of-the-water-amazing-mouth-dropping subwoofer. It is very accurate. However - for 1300-1400 dollars. You can do way better. As much as I like my subwoofer, and since I got a good deal on my subwoofer. I really like. I paid a 4th of the cost. However to end my boreing reveiw, I have decided to get the bottum of the line PCi SVS subwoofer at the end of the Summer. To tell you the truth, I'm exspecting to move the M&K to the closet and put the SVS in its current spot.
Now to come to my conclusion. I like my sub, a whole lot. I will continue to recomend M&K to all that want a good sub.
Back to the SVS, it might become the main room sub, if it runs toe to toe with the M&K, and if the SVS isn't incredibly ugly. I got another question, how the eff do you clean thos subwoofers? A vaccum cleaner? eh? Well, I will downside my dad's purchases of 2 - 1400 dollar subs, that possibly could be outran by a 700-800 dollar sub, easily. I think he is quite stupid. And if you want to know his future dream system - it contains the following
Preamp - Top of the Line Yamaha Receiver
Amps - Krell
Speakers - Wilson Audio
Wire - HD
Subwoofer - 2 - Top of the Line M&K...
thats his dream system. Welp, this is my reveiw on M&K. I cant give you none of that technical crap - but I can tell you one thing. The M&K is a good sub, but for the $$$ - you can do much better. Thats my 2 cents.

Wow! HD wire, Yammie rec as a pre, and 2 M&K subs paired with Wilson Audio Speakers and Krell amps? I really don't know what to say here.
Tell you what, when you finally bag your pre for the Adcom, I'll send you a pair of MIT Terminator 5 for your mains to 'check out', no charge.
Cheers,
