Newbie Bi-Amp Question...Sorry

Hi everyone, its my first post on this forum and Im sorry if this is a question that has already been answered and I just need to search harder. I recently bought a pair of RTi10's and have them set up on my Sony STRDG720 amp. I have another receiver that I would like to use to Bi-Amp these speakers. My question is; Can I just connect one set of speaker wire from the Sony receiver to the top terminal on the RTi's and then connect another set from my Yamaha receiver front terminals to the bottom of the RTi's and have that work? I just dont want to hook it up like that without realizing its a huge issue and do some catastrophic damage or anything like that. Im also curious to know if I have to run any other connections between the two receivers and if I have to have the second receiver on a special setting or input mode to make it work. Any advice that could be given would be really appreciated. Thanks.

What you're talking about is called bi-wiring and has very limited advantages.

Bi-amping is a little more involved and can make for noticeable differences.

Do you have any way to link the two receivers together? I'm not quite sure how that would work.

I wouldn't imagine the results from that would be to good though. The two receivers are very different from one another, and probably wouldn't sound very natural together powering the same speaker.

If you're set on bi-amping them, you probably ought to look into some external amps.

By the way, welcome to Club Polk! :D

Thanks for the tips guys. I ended up doing what I think is bi-wiring them. I ran wire from my front A terminals on the receiver to the bottom terminal of the speaker, and then ran some wire from my surround back terminals to the top terminal of the speaker. After a bit of auto calibration with the mic that came with the receiver and some adjusting myself, it sounds pretty good and a bit better than before. I'll leave it at that for now. Thanks again.
