 anyone use the high end monster cable speaker wire?
I used Z2 ,M2.4s and the sigma series monster cable.
To me i found all of it made the sound stage get smaller and compressed it also sounded like it added it's own coloration to the sound... it made the sound sond compressed and middy sounding.... i noticed when swapping to standard 12g wire with the normal wire if lets say sombody was singing with the normal wire it threw the sound as if to make you be able to point exactly where the person was standing it felt like they where right there and gave you the pressents of them being there singing in front of you...but with the monster wire it muffled the sound stage and made it feel like everything got compressed together and it made you lose the feeling of it sounding live like the singer was in the room and you can pin poin where the person and instramints where coming from....

Anyone other than me feel this way about the monster wire?

    You use the m-word lol:eek:

Most will tell you that they despise monster cabling. They are definitely overpriced for their quality.

I was sold on M before I discovered Signalcable. You'll notice the better difference as soon as you replaced M speaker cables with Signalcable at a relative significant savings. Component/Video cables have less of an impact between the two, but the savings is significant, so why not?

ps: For a better result on audio, go with MIT cables, but, we are talking Apple and Orange due to the different price point.
I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

Every monster cable/wire I tried sounded very bright and edgy, generally the same as a cheap component. This was several years ago but companies don't change all that often. It took awhile to figure out why my system sounded so cheap. They are all gone now...

I just replaced a set of Z2's with some audioquest type 4 and it was a major improvement in sound quality. The Z2's are still O.K. cab to me.

IMO, you're correct about their marketing plan but wrong about bashing them.

I have the right to speak about Monster as I worked for a Monster dealer for years and years. I have tons of experience with there products, I have seen there power centers make claims they cannot back up. I saw a HTS get hit and allow the energy to pass over to all connected electronics.
I have listened to every single level of there cables. I have found they don't stack up against others in there price class. They use old technology and never updated it.
They have good quality Custom wire. It's soft and easy to pull but it's sound quality is another story. There component cables are hard to use and manage in a rack or stand. They do however have solid digital cables with no digression of sound.
I don't however like there business practice suing anyone who uses the name monster in there company. They act like Bullies and I'm not a fan.
I don't like there connections as they damage gear. There turbine connections are a good idea but they tend to over do it. I hate them.

Bose on the other hand I only have great things to say. For the money they build a very nice system and good sounding one. Most people are happy with them and they are very easy to use. You get a lot for your money. I don't hate Bose for any reason. Why others do is completely beyond me. Quality products that perform well. Not audiophile but good enough for most.

Take it easy with your comments.

I have yet to find any Monster cables that are what I would call "good quality" or "good sounding". IMO they are just a step above the patch cord and speaker wire that mass market mfgs. stick in the box of a piece of gear they sell.

On top of that...their business practices suck!

I agree with Polkatese on these suggestions...
I would add AudioQuest and Kimber Kable as good mid-priced alternatives.

I had Z2 and Z3 speaker cables and some of their I/C's.
Switching to AQ or Kimber made a very noticable difference.
My favorite deal, Magnolia shop/BB combos dropped AQ because
"it was causing customer confusion". I snagged a bunch of cables
on clearance. I think it was a case of Monster applying a bit of muscle
    on BB.
