New Polk's on the way!

I'm new on the forum and I have been all over it reading about speakers recently. Great information!

I am in the process of upgrading my HT system. My wife blessed me with an Onkyo TX-SR876 for Christmas and that justifies some new Polk's.

I have in the mail and hopefully here by Monday:
Rti A7 Fronts
Csi A6 Center
Fxi A6 Surround
DSW Pro 600 Sub woofer

I read several times that the Rti A's need plenty of power and now I'm wondering if I have enough power with the SR876? It's rated at 140 watts per channel and 160 watts in dynamic mode. What do you think?

I will be spending about 60% of the time watching movies and 40% listening to music. Do you think I ordered the right front speakers? I almost got the Ati A9's, but thought they might be a bit much.

Thanks in advance for your wisdom.

I'd say your in for a treat!

Thats a great system you've put together.

Lets us know how it sounds when you get it all hooked up.

I wouldn't worry about the power with RTi's. There not near the power hogs as Lsi's.

    And Welcome to the club!!

Hey dbike199! That's going to be pretty darn great altogether, I wouldn't sweat it if I were you! What a wife BTW!

It could reasonably be argued that the RTi A7 are a bit much for a receiver without external amplification, and perhaps the RTi A5 would have been a more judicious choice, but opinions vary on this topic and Onkyo have been working hard to increase the true world output of their most recent products. Hook 'em up and let us know how they sound!

Congratulations ... on both the setup and the wifey! Kex.
    Alea jacta est!

Congrats and welcome to Club Polk. Hook them up first listen for a while and then re-evaluate about more power.

You should be pretty happy with your results. Those are some good speakers.

Like everyone else said, try out the A7's through the receiver first. It may be enough for your needs since you mainly use it for home theater purposes. If you ever want to add an external amp though, you'll have that option. The A7's really wake up with more power, but it's not necessary all the time.

wait till you get that csi A6- it's a monster! Haha. I just got mine today to replace the csi 3. I knew the dimensions, but somehow seeing it in front of me... it dwarfs the csi3!

I just recently got it set up. The thing was so big I had to move some equipment to a side rack to fit it under the tv...

I do notice a good difference, but not a huge one. I used one of my favorite blu-ray movies- Blade Runner to test it. It's got some good dialog scenes in diferent types of environments like rooms with echos etc. The dialog did feel more full and rich- like it was a little more crisp and defined without having to boost the volume. Good range too- from deep dialog to higher pitched sound like dialog over walkie-talkie in some scenes- all were very crisp.

I didn't have any real complaints with the csi3, but I found the A6 at a great deal from a fellow member here- refurbed and barely used for $150 (only about 30 bucks more than I paid for the csi3). It is in excellent condition no marks at all and great sound, so at that price it was definitely worth it to me. I don't know if the difference would have been big enough for me to pay full price for a brand new one right now though. In any case- I'm very happy with it :D
