What sub would be worthy of my speakers?

Hey guys, I might be looking into a new sub in the future. Right now the H-100 is working fine for HT (nice and powerful, but could definitely use something that goes lower). For music, I currently go full range on my RTi10's.

Not looking to spend a ton of money... maybe around $400-500?

I would love to have the PB12-NSD, but it's a bit out of my price range I think:

Any thoughts? Thanks in advance

Check out the PB10 NSD. Shipped it'd cost about 500 altogether. It's not quite as nice as the PB12...but it's still a badass sub. 300 watt BASH amp into a 10" driver...it's frequency response is great too. IIRC it's stable down to about 22hz, and your in room extension would probably get you down to below 20 hz.

I'm looking to upgrade my sub in the near future as well...The PB10 is probably the direction I'm gonna go. Unless I can come up with the extra coin to spring for the PB12. Check out the Velodynes too...they have some nasty subs that would fit into your price range.

How much better would the pb10-nsd be over my h-100?

For that kind of money you will not get a lot of sub. For a low price sub check out the Martin Logan Dynamo. It's the hottest under 600.00 sub on the market today. I have yet to hear a better musical sub for that kind of money.

    It's a wrap,

Is this to say the sub you are looking for is going to be for HT? Take a look at http://www.edesignaudio.com/product_info.php?cPath=2_41&products_id=407
Free shipping and depending on your location tax free I think this is the best $350 you could spend. A lot of other subs close in price, but I think to get better you will need at least another $100 over this. If you are looking for something more musical (although the eD isn't too bad) I think you will need to go right up to your max budget.
Or up your budget to about $1000 and get something you'll never look back from.

    25-31 PCi would do good.

I would agree with Mantis in that ML will be the most musical, and is a great sub because it's much faster than the SVS lines but will not pressurize a room at all. If you are more looking for HT then SVS is the way to go. For your price range you can afford an incredible passive sub. That being said, you will need an amp channel to drive it since it doesn't plug into the wall like normal subs. You should have open amp channels on that Onkyo. If you DO have an open channel you will get a lot more bang for your buck with this:

I have two, and can vouch for how they continue to amaze me every time I watch a flick. I would describe them as just okay for music.
    My Main Gear
    Mitsu HC5000 (Proj.)
    Marantz SR8001 (AVR)
    Sunfire TGA7200 (AMP)
    Marantz DV7001 (SACD)
    Samsung BD-P1500 Blu-Ray
    LSi 15's (Front)
    LSiC (Center)
    LSiFx (Surrounds)
    DUAL SVS 20-39 CS Plus
    (Passive Subs)
    Marantz IS201 I-Pod Dock[/SIZE]
    Panamax M5300EX
    Carada Criterion 106" Brightwhite Screen
    Sunfire TGA 5200 & (4) B&W 605's in the party room
