    Breaking news!

I guess it's time for Matt to enjoy the good life. I doubt that he'll do much more than tinker since he probably signed a non-compete agreement with the sale. He may have been under contract for a limited time. We'll see how this plays out.

Good luck Matt in whatever you do!

No surprise, is it? He's old enough; he's been astonishingly successful. What else does he have to prove?

If he is as much of a nerd as he says he is, he'll probably show up here and start gabbing with you crack pots.

Wow...that's a shock. I hope he enjoys whatever he pursues in life now. He's definitely achieved a lot in his life, he deserves a break now.

Also...I can't help but wonder if that was the man himself that posted this thread...With a screen name like Dr. dB, and it being his first post and all. Anyone else get the same impression?

It would appear that Dr Db, aka Michael Braithwaite, may be in a position to know what he's talking about.

    According to his web site:

"— Matthew Polk, Founder, Polk Audio
was with another company when working with Michael at NetStreams

“Mike’s ability to understand and develop new technology and deliver a superior result is what impresses me the most. Not to mention he always greets you with a smile. Great positive guy to work with.” November 11, 2008"

Well, if Matthew Polk is retiring, I'd say he's earned his stripes; definitely did well, made positive contributions to the field, and seemingly did so with class.

Thanks to dB for giving us the news before even Google could find it!

Thanks to everyone at Polk Audio for what they have done for all of us, and thanks in advance to the great team there for everything that they continue to do for us (most of us know first hand how true the former is, some of us also know first hand how equally true the latter is).

    Happy Holidays Polk Audio!

Bummer. :( The company may still bear his name...but it won't be the same. His passion for the business will impossible to replace.

Congratulations to Matt on retiring, best of luck on your new ventures.

As for Polk as a whole, I can't imagine how much Matt will be missed. Hopefully Polk will continue down the same path that has worked for them for the last 20+ years.

Good Luck Matt. You deserve to relax if you know what that word means:)

Also I don't want to leave out Jim Herd who was always so a great host at the HQ tours. Thanks again.

Change is hard but Polk will survive. They have many tenured staff to carry the torch.

Matt the signed poster is framed and is hung in the wall. What a prized possesion.

    Best of luck

People like mr Polk don't stay retired for long.
Who knows maybe he'll start a new audio company.
