Heroes on NBC - rant

Ok... this show started out pretty good the first season. This season every time they write themselves into a corner and can't get out.. they figure out a way to time warp someone into the past or future to solve for the bad effed up writing.
Anyone else notice this in the past 4 or 5 episodes? I don't remember they ever having to warp back or forward in time as much as they do now. I think the show is turning into just another so so show on TV now.
Plus no one ever dies on the damn show. Someone may get killed.. then two episodes later they're alive again by some mysterious miracle because they somehow came into contact with Claires blood 15 yrs ago.. OMG!
Syler does in every episode, but then later in the show he's back to being himself again. Claires dad has at least 100 lives. He can't be killed no matter if he gets shot, run over, zapped by fire... he's indestructable. OMG!
end of rant!

Agreed DB. I am actually enjoying My Own Worst Enemy with Slater, better than Heroes. Now that NBC has decided to cancel the series, and kept Momma's effin Boys reality, all hopes are lost, to get excited with NBC programming in the new year.
But, no despair. Big Love is coming back on HBO in January. Nothing like imagining supporting three wives. I am glad I have only one, so it's definitely a feel good series...:)I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie. -
The last four or five episodes?? Try the last two SEASONS. I really enjoyed Heroes season one, but they might as well just rename it "deus ex machina" at this point. The plotlines make no sense, if they even exist; the characters are just idiot shells who do whatever someone else tells them to do in order to move whatever nonsensical story along; the big "twists" happened so often that they weren't even twists anymore. Oooo, so and so's a good guy, then a bad guy, then a good guy, then a bad guy. What a joke. The writers have utter contempt for their audience at this point, and anyone who's still watching is just proving their point by continuing to ingest that drivel. I gave up like two months ago and haven't even looked back for a second (though I do miss Ali Larter....).If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

Well, it is a comic book based type story line isn't it? Isn't that the same way all the Superhero storylines go? Like Superman and Kryptonite-hmm how did he magically get out of that jam? again and again and again and ....
Take it for what it is.
On the other hand, my own personal opinion? Yeah-I think it has gone overboard lately. Same with the Sarah Connor Chronicles-almost too predictable. Anything where time can be altered just allows too much freedom for the writers. I've noticed as well that some of the actors in Heroes lately aren't putting as much emotion into the scene, as if they know its a stupid concept or something.
There are a bunch of new shows this past year that I enjoyed watching, but then just got bored-sometimes it just gets too far fetched from reality, like the the actors (in the role) are pissed they have some special ability or just not realistically convincing enough that they are excited about having it. Like above and Eli Stone or Fringe.____________________

The season finale really disappointed. They seemed to be really spinning their wheels this whole season. Just kill Syler and be done with it. The teaser for the new season looked very interesting but they may have lost me.:(

Journeyman had the same time travel issues. Although I did watch it every episode. One thing I didn't like about Journeyman was he would establish a family with a kid, then go back in time and potentially change the future effectively erasing any existence of his kid. Way to sad for me.
It started to get frustrating everytime he came back, not knowing what was changed and whether any of the memories, of past experiences (past episodes) of the other characters ,even existed any more. If you follow that____________________

I agree DB, after the writers strike and lame story lines I just couldn't/don't follow this show anymore. I was a big fan of the 1st season but sadly it's lost it's way, IMHO.

I personally enjoy the show. I don't judge it that deeply. I like everyone on the show and I like the story. It's interesting to say the least.
I'm excited for next season.

I guess gone are those days when TV series had a long run of over 10+ years or more. I think today viewers are quicker to dump a series rather than stick with it. We have so many more options now than just the networks for good shows.
Currently I think ER is one of the longest still running series, after what 14 or 15 yrs it's still on. How many cast changes has ER gone through and still survived? But my point is, shows like ER are still able to hold their loyal viewers year after year after year. Think about Heroes going on for 14 yrs? :eek:PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

I try not to deconstruct fantasy based TV shows and simply enjoy them until I'm bored.CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I'm pretty open minded and can hang with whatever a TV show throws my way.. afterall, i have the power to change the channel or turn off the TV all together.
BUT, what I hate is how Heroes is continually going for the quick and easy out... of time shifting as a way to make the story stretch. It's like they've run out of creativity already, and they are only a few season's into the show.
The show started out very strong, then it just kept going downhill and further down.. till now it's what I consider to have reached the basement. Heroes needs new life injected into the writing staff. They've gotten lazy. :mad:PolkFest 2012, who's going>?

The preview looked pretty good, hopefully it lives up to it's expectations."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche

I still watch Smallville because i am waiting to see Clark fly & chloe half nakid
But seriously every single episode somebody winds up in the hospital and 7 minutes before the end everything is OK and they are hanging out in Clark's barn.
My son things Chloe is the best thing on tv. I have to agree with him on some levels.

I agree that this season has had its troubles. Particularly the earlier episodes where all the good characters seemed to shift at least somewhat to the bad and the bad to the good. Too many sub-plots and not as clear distinction between the good and bad while we were all kept too much in the dark. Was a frustrating viewing experience. They have come around to narrowing the number of sub-plots and moved back to clearer distinctions of who is good and bad. It seems to be coming around. However I don't think this show will completely recover from the whole they have dug.danger boy wrote: »Ok... this show started out pretty good the first season. Hey Noel, Happy New Year to you....Henry was a ****, but his wife? whoa, hot mama. She is so hot that I forgive Henry for being a wuss.I am sorry, I have no opinion on the matter. I am sure you do. So, don't mind me, I just want to talk audio and pie.

So true!!! She's a a lot hotter than Edward's squeeze, who's hot in a British sort of way. Anyone ever figure out what the "Hummingbird" was?"SOME PEOPLE CALL ME MAURICE,

There's a difference between "deconstructing" a show and just noticing that it's lazy and awful. Obviously there's "good" fantasy shows and bad ones, otherwise TV would just be filled with millions of fantasy shows with idiots lined up to watch them. Heroes turned from a decent show to a lazy piece of crap. Giving it a pass just because it's "fantasy-based" is just what the producers want you to do, and expect you to do, which is w hy they're shoveling this **** at you in the first place. If you will it, dude, it is no dream.

thank you bobman.. you get what I was trying to say when I started this thread. I looked up the nielsen ratings over the years for Heroes, and it's slowly dying. I give it two more season's before it's scrapped. IMHO
Remember the build up a few years ago? The promo's made you want to watch the show. Everyone I knew was so eager to tune in and watch it. Then the next day.. everyone was talking about it... today... no one talks about it anymore. Leading me to believe that there isn't much interest in the show anymore.. and the ratings numbers are starting to reflect that. TV shows with low viewer ratings get canceled over time.PolkFest 2012, who's going>?
