Can someone please that subscribes take a look and help me with the value of a Luxman M-117.

TIA

I picked up a TFM 45 and while the Luxman holds it's own very well. The Carver is more dynamic, a much better SDA effect and bass response is through the roof and the Luxman wasn't bad.

Combo rig:

Onkyo NR1007 pre-pro, Carver TFM 45(fronts), Carver TFM 35 (surrounds)
SDA 1C, CS400i, SDA 2B
PB13Ultra RO
BW Silvers
Oppo BDP-83SE

    One probelm I've found with this BB is they don't account for condition, and never seems to relaly count most recent sales.

    Yep, the last 2 I saw were on ebay...one for about $550 and the other for $800. I really hate to give it up, it's a very nice amp. Mine's probably 8/10 with no issues.

    Thanks mmadden :cool::D

    You lucky sh!te! You are obviously more fun right now than anyone deserves ...
    I A/B'd the 2 amps for about 4 hours yesterday. I really don't find that fun. Both amps sound great and the differences aren't stark, though they each have their own sound. Can't keep them both and I've had the Luxman for awhile...so in with the new and out with the old. I know I'm going to regret this :(

    Well they aren't exactly apples to apples. The Luxman is a 50lb Class A/B 200x2, very sweet sounding, detailed midrange, punchy deep bass and slightly rolled off highs. The Carver is Class H to A/B in a 30lb box, 375x2 with an almost 3D soundstage. It pushes out much wider and extends the bass and SDA effect further. The additional headroom and differing topology gives subtle emphasis to different sounds and the dynamics are effortless. The amount of bass my 1Cs are pushing out are at another level. I had stopped using a sub for music awhile ago, though on some material I missed it...not anymore. From that standpoint the amps aren't really comparable.

    What makes it hard is they both sound great, just different.
    I'm sure that many folks here and elsewhere would prefer the Luxman. It's got a more traditional sound.
