Polk Audio Direct Ebay Store?

I was looking on Polk Audio Direct and they seem to have some pretty good prices on RTi A7's and other speakers. But they are factory refurbished, what is to be expected buying factory refurbised items on Polk Audio Direct? Do the speakers come working and looking as new, with the full warranty, etc?

If anyone here has experience buying any factory refurbished speakers from the Polk Audio Direct ebay store i'd really appreciate your input.

Thanks in advance..:)

Certainly can't guarantee what I say here, but every speaker that I've bought from polkdirect has been brand new. In some cases there is a sticker on the box that says its refurb, but never any sign that they were ever opened (or should I say previously owned). This has been discussed several times on this forum, and so far everybody has reported receiving what appears to be NIB product. For me, only one thing, an iSonic, looked like it was actually used, but still in great shape for the price.
They state that the warranties are less for the refurbs, but I've heard conflicting stories on that. Its also confusing in the listing about warranties.

IMO buy with confidence from polkdirect.

Just keep in mind that they charge tax for every state (that has a sales tax).

I was a little skeptical myself. Especially with the "cosmetic damage" part. No big deal on a subwoofer, but why spend big bucks on a nice cherry tower if there's a big gash in the side, you know? They have excellent feedback, though. I looked through many, many posts searching for someone disappointed with the looks or performance. There were a few "complaints" that the item was out of stock and replaced with a better product. After about a dozen pages, I gave up on finding a valid complaint about the products themselves. Obviously, your mileage will vary, but they seem to be offering a pretty sweet deal to those who don't need a showroom demo.

I just pulled the trigger on a pair of LSi FX since the price is too good to pass. Paid on Dec 16. They shipped the next day and it is scheduled to be delivered Dec 20:eek:. And that is from San Diego, CA to Houston, TX. If FedEx actually delivers on time then kudos to Polk for such an incredible service.

I will update when I get the speakers. But I keep my hope high since everyone here keeps saying good thing about Polk Direct

I got the sweet CSiA6 deal about two weeks ago, and my speaker is as far as I can tell, brand new. I wouldn't, however, count on more than a 180 day warrantee on refurbs. If they take care of you beyond that date, fine, but this is what it says on the Polk Audio support page regarding the warrantee you get--->

"Refurbished for home speakers and electronics
Limited One-Hundred and Eighty Day Warranty
Polk Audio, Inc., warrants to the original retail purchaser only. This warranty will terminate automatically prior to its stated expiration if the original retail purchaser sells or transfers the product to any other party.

Polk Audio, Inc., warrants, to the original retail purchaser only, that the LOUDSPEAKER(S), and PASSIVE CROSSOVER COMPONENT(S) on this Polk Audio Loudspeaker Product will be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of one-hundred and eighty (180) days from the date of original retail purchase from Polk Audio.

Furthermore, Polk Audio, Inc., warrants, to the original retail purchaser only, that any AMPLIFIER OR OTHER ELECTRONIC COMPONENT that may be included in this Polk Audio Loudspeaker Product will be free from defects in material and workmanship for a period of one-hundred and eighty (180) days from the date of original retail purchase from Polk Audio.

Furthermore, Polk Audio, Inc., does not warrant any COSMETIC APPEARANCE, IMPERFECTIONS OR BLEMISHES on this Polk Audio Loudspeaker Product. "

    FWIW ;)

I have purchased the following from Polk Direct at EBay. One pair of RTi A5's (in cherry finish, GORGEOUS) for the mains, CSi A4 for the center, 2- CS2's for the surrounds. Before purchasing, I e-mailed Polk Direct about the warranty, the answer I received is that all of my purchases would carry the ORIGINAL warranty, which is 5 years ! ! ! You'll see that almost all of the speakers that they offer state that they carry "the original factory warranty". Hope that helps. Don't worry about the condition you will receive, ALL of my speakers appear to be BRAND NEW. No cosmetic or functional problems whatsoever, have fun !

However, if you click through the link provided, you get to the text I quoted above. I think their verbage is confusing. What does "original factory warranty" mean when they go on to state refurbs are only covered for 180 days? Does it mean warranted by the "original factory"? I just don't think you can rely on them being covered for 5 years. Did they say explicitly that they would be covered for 5 years, or did they just restate the "original factory warranty" stuff. I wish someone from Polk would clear this up for us.

Hence the conflicting stories about the warranties. If your concerned enough, get confirmation in writing/email and save it. I think w/o having to drill down to get the full story just to read the tiny print; the 'original factory warranty' statement in the listing would likely hold up in any court--just saying---not that I would expect any issues.

You're right the wording is confusing. We will change the lingo.

Here is the bottom line on refurbished Polk goods:
Electronics (e.g. I-Sonic, subwoofer amplifiers, miDock, tuners, etc.) have a 180 day warranty.
Home speakers have a 5 year warranty (original warranty).

This is excellent news Eric! Based on the wording on eBay and the corresponding link to the warranty, I was under the impression that the speaker warranty was 180 days. Given what you said, I think it is advisable to clarify that to all potential purchasers.

    GREAT!!

One question, does PolkDirect usually sell RTI A9 in cherry when they have in stock? I would like to have cherry products from polk and I only see black RTi A9's.

As I said, before I made my purchase, Polk told me "Your warranty is for 5 years" ! You could never ask for anything better than this from ANY company. These prices, for speakers in NEW condition, and STILL, you get the full warranty. I now have a complete Polk Audio home theatre speaker system, RTi A5's for the mains, CSi a4 for the center, DSW PRO 500 for the sub, and CS2's ( but, I might get 2 CSi A4's for the surround) for surround. And, no worries for the next 5 years :D:D:D:p. Polk Audio, you'll be seeing me again, THANKS ! ! !
