Down with the OVERLY-LONG sig...

Anyone else noticed this? You get a one or two sentence post, then a 'breakdown' of gear that is 20 lines long, or a meaningless rant, within the sig?

Just pissin' in the wind here, but it bothers me. I can see listing your speaker line, or even models, but does anyone care that you have a GE 27" tv and a Hifi RCA vcr? I don't, but maybe someone does.....

    7 lines, not TOO bad, even thought it consists of random quotes, and has no 'flow', and makes no sense.

    Just think if some members listed EVERY last piece of gear they owned. I ask, is there a 'protocol' or 'format' to abide by? This is rediculous.

    I'm gonna get freakin carpal-tunnel from having to scroll through sigs.

    I'm with ya on this one. Atleast shrink the letters. I don't mind if it's a paragraph. As long as it's small. It's just because my computer is slow.

    Hey check my sig out now, does this pass the polk approval code for sigs, I am laughing all the way, :) I really actually agree Russ it gets ridiculous with all the garbage in the sigs.. But really come on let us tell all the gear we have, as long as its not 1st system, second system, basement system, attic system, kids bedroom system, Come on its not a who's got more gear sig.... Its maybe home theater or 2 channel rig with what Polks you own, Right???

    Rooster is trying to quit smoking and it's getting his nerves in a bundle. Dropped my equip list to 4 lines, just for you Russ - Polk and SVS only. My sig was only a one liner anyway, so it stays.

    I like to see a brief bio on the gear people run, just don't get crazy.

    Now this is a good thead.
    Russ has a thing about sig's.I'm not sure what his deal is.
    I like my sig,it's mine and I'm sticking by it.Because Thats what I do.When I think of a better sig,bored out of my mind,it will most likely be longer then this one.

    my sig is not long. but i do hate ling sigs and on other forems they have pics in them that must realey slow down peeps on the dial up.
    and i also olny put non polk stuff in my sig. lol

    How long have you been using online communications?

    I've been heavily reliant upon one form or another of online communication since 1989, whether it be the 'net, CompuServe, The Well, or private BBS's/e-mail systems.

    To me, a long sig screams rude, self-absorbed newbie. Of course, that's just my opinion, but I'm willing to bet that many long-time users of online comm view it the same way. It's a fairly flagrant breach of Netiquette; some don't care about that, others do.
