This thing looks like something out of 'Robocop'. Hopefully, they can actually get this thing off the ground and into production.

    Its cool for sure.
FOX news had it on this AM
There is a feature that scans all the license plates while driving down the road and running them. I can only imagine how many other invasions of privacy they'll come up with. I know its not an envasion of privacy to run plates but society needs to worry more about terrorists than expired plates or seat belt.

Never mind about expired plates, no insurance and expired plates is another matter (lot's of hit and run accidents here in L.A.).

I don't know how many state are like MA, but in MA, EVERYTHING is tied together with the vehicle. If your inspection sticker expires, within 3 days, so does everything else. The registration, insurance, YOUR license, become null & void. And if you've got a loan on that vehicle, your in default.
    How's THAT for 'Big Brother'

So if people are responsible and don't let their stickers expire it's no big deal.

You guys are all correct in my opinion. BIG brother is watching BIG time and its going to get worse. If they were to use these things to bag the terrorists I'd be happy but we all know thats B.S.

What if you have two cars and the second car just happens to be sitting in your driveway-not planning on using it for awhile--

Your saying that if that car's inspection expires, then so does your license to drive? Just that car? or any vehicle?

And how does that affect your insurance? License and registration are controlled by the state, but insurance is a separate contract between you and an insurance company, which includes protection even when the car is not moving (collision such as a falling tree).

If what you said is somehow true, I can't believe 'the people' would allow that.

Are you suggesting that police stop policing US residents and ignore traffic laws?
Do you not think that properly inspected and insured cars are important to the safety of the public?

What about stolen cars or cars that have an APB on them? Don't you think that licence plate scanning thing would help?

What have you to hide that you need to worry about this?

Hehe. When was the last time you had a cop parked in your driveway to check out your license plates? :D

IMO, if BB ever got this big there would be a revolution way before this happened.

He said when your inspection sticker expires, within 3 days so does everything else, not 'if you get caught' with an expired sticker. ;)

I don't know how viable that car is because one of the ways the popo offset their costs is by selling the cars after they're done with them. You can't very well sell that car to just anyone, so you have a hefty pricetag for something that you can't ever recoup money back on.........

My guess is since that they are designed from the ground up as Police cars, that they would have a longer lifespan of usefulness compared to the modified stock cars. Who knows, the manufacturer, if they've thought it through, may even have a buy-back program to handle that issue.

    Fixed!

Around here they usually pick up leftovers or whatever they can get the best deal on. For example, do you really need a V10 Excursion for patrolling a 3 square mile radius? The only time they came in handy was when the road flooded down the block and vehicles were stuck in 3' puddles.
