Denon AVR-2809CI, Polk RTIA9 & CSIA6 good?

I have purchased a Denon AVR-2809CI for 80% home theater and 20% light rock music listening in my 18ft X 25ft (or so) vaulted ceiling living room.

I'd like to get some reasonably good speakers. My budget is very limited.

I'm thinking of picking up a pair of Polk RTIA9s (about $1000 for the pair) for the fronts and a Polk CSIA6 (about $450) for the center. Would these work well with the 2809? If not, any recommendations?

Any recommendations on a good sub-woofer for under $500?

I'll get some appropriate surrounds later.

The AVR is great but those speakers will need more power to get best performance. You could add a Carver or like 225wpc for just the mains, your denon has pre-outs.

What is the cubic feet of your room before a solid recommendation can be made for a sub. A $500 may be a waste of money unless you planned to add a second in the future (if your room is large).

My personal recommendation is HSU or SVS as that is what I experience with.
Knowing your room size will help with recommendations

I don't think so. The Denon has plenty of power to drive those speakers. You will be fine.

    Congrads on your new system,

Agree the Denon will play them find but to get the best sound out those speakers more power will allow them to perform best.

The I think the room is about 4200 cubic feet.

I can buy a separate amp at a future date. But I honestly don't plan on turning the volume up very loud. It's a rare occasion that my wife will let me do that. The neighbors might complain as well.

Maybe I'd be better off with a pair of Monitor 70s?

I think you should try a step down the RTi A7's if you not going to take those BadBoys and push him. But at the price you got them for geeeezeeeee Keep them.:D

I have my Denon 2808 hooked up to my Monitor 70's (Bi-Amped) and I am very happy with them.

However, I would have LOVED to be able to get my fingers on a set of RTi A9's... On the other side, if you are not going to be able to crank them and really enjoy them, I would go with the A7's since they are far less power hungry.

As for the sub, my father just picked up a Mirage Prestige S10 for $400 (original $800) and that thing is NICE.
