Need Help pick a receiver

Hi All,

New to the Forums and was wondering if someone could give some advice.

I purchased the LCI series (In-walls/In Ceilings) LC265,LCi-c and LC80i for a 6.1 setup.

I was planning on buying The Pioneer Elite SC-07 AVR to push them.

After doing some research I realized my speakers nominal impedance is 4ohms,
but the SC-07 is rated at 8 ohms.

Will I run into problems trying to push my speakers with this AVR?

Will I be able to run my speakers to there full potential?

    Welcome Wildstar.

    With those speakers you either need a receiver rated for 4 ohms (rare, expensive), or get an external amplifier with a "normal" receiver. This will not only make your speakers sound as they should, but also avoid damages.

    When you say "normal receiver" what do you mean?

    Any suggestions?

    Will hooking up a external amp, allow me to run them through the SC-07.

    Not stuck on the SC-07 but I bought the Elite Pro 151-FD and wanted that receiver to go with it. Also I need a AVR with 4 HDMI inputs since my setup was built to run all HDMI.

    NAD makes some great receivers that would be able to handle that kind of a load.

    When I say normal I mean you don't need a lot of power, since you'll use an external amp; anything with pre outs (and the features you want/need) will do. The SC 07 will definitely do it.

    hi wildstar....the Pio SC-07 is a great Receiver. You may want to check out AVSFORUM.com as they have an entire thread devoted Pio SC-07 and SC-05 (my receiver). There are alot of people there who tested and ran the SC07 with 4ohm speakers with no problems but you should take the above posters advice into consideration and possibly pose the same question you are asking here on that forum.     Go for the SC07, you wont regret it. I have one in my setup and its a beast. The IceAmps sound awesome. You can read my review in the AVS thread in regards to it. Excellent unit to own.

    For 4 ohm loads, probably the most obvious choice. Check Spearit Sound for deals (the models vary) http://www.spearitsound.com/nad/nadspec.htm.

    I am not aware that the Yamaha will handle 4 ohms correctly, and the Pioneer is not officially rated for them either AFIK. If this is true, you would be strongly advised to add external amplification to either of these units to avoid problems when driving 4 ohm speakers (that notoriously dip down lower), or risk problems with your receiver and/or your tweeters that will probably NOT be covered under any warranty.
