Thank goodness. So it is proven. A 30 foot wad of 1967 Arthur Fulmer 28 awg wire will work just fine with any audiophile grade streo speaker. Far out. LOL

I keep seeing posts to buy Bluejeans cables, but for speaker cables BlueJeansCables is just a reseller of Canare StarQuad 4s11 and Belkin 5000 Series with the only value add being terminations. Never do I see a recomendation for a either brand and I wonder why since I don't think Canare and Belkin are equivalent. FYI: I did buy Canare from them because I wanted to try Bi-wiring which did nothing for me :(

Igo, until I get everything else up to par, I'm just using 12awg outdoor lighting cable (multistrand copper zipcord). Before I worry about speaker cables, I'm going to improve my ICs because I think they are more of an influence on sound qual. than spk. cables(as long as you're not using 28ga:D)
Then it's on to spk. cables!! I'll probably buy used ones to get a higher grade for less $$$, hopefully MITs of some sort. Whatever you do, DON"T buy MONSTER cable products that are new, that will enrich that A'hole company. I've bought some used ICs, so my money didn't go to Monster corp.;)

gdb, I have 12 or 14 awg Monster Cable speaker wires that are very old and they are all I've used for years. Not a good or a bad thing, it's just what I have. One end is bare wire aand the other banana. They were a leap from lamp cord and a great leap at that. I'm ready for the next leap.

I haven't paid too much attention to my speaker cables. I have 14 awg Esoteric (very basic stuff that looks like clear zip cord) for ~ 25' run for each channel. Is there an economical upgrade that I should consider?

You should look in the flea market right now. There is a listing for some DH Labs T-14, at $1.50 a ft.

I personally run a set of the DH labs Q-10's, which are the same wire but a thicker gauge. And to be honest, really really really honest. To my ears and in my different rigs over the years, through different brands and lengths, I think DH Labs makes the best sounding wire I've ever had. And that includes everything from MIT and Kimber, to Straightwires, AntiCables, AudioQuest, Tara Labs, Monster, Home Depot electrical cord etc.

I would think that you should jump quick at $1.50 a ft before its all bought up, it usually goes for $5.00 a ft everywhere else.

My wire of the year on a budget and I have proved it right in my own system is the Audioquest Flex series in wall rated 14-2. Currently I have my mains(Dynaudio Audience 82's) wired with it and I use them for 2 channel music. I have used it on the job and found it to be a really good sounding or non sounding cable. I like it a lot.
I found it at Crutchfield for sale and that price is awesome. I challenge any bulk cable at or slighty above hell go a lot higher and you'll be hard pressed to beat this wire.

    http://www.crutchfield.com/p_703142250I/AudioQuest-FLX-14-2-14-Gauge-In-Wall-Speaker-Cable-250-feet.html?tp=1432

I might have to pick some of that up. I love the price tag on it particularly. I've been looking at the Canare 4S11, and this looks like it's pretty similar. Are the two comparable, or would the 4S11 blow this stuff away?

The 4S11 would cost almost twice as much as that stuff does...and I'm trying to save a few bucks wherever I can. I may end up getting a spool of this instead of the Canare. Thanks for the suggestion.

I don't know this cable but then again I don't know any high-end cables outside of the 12 awg Monster Cable I've run for many years. I'm sure this will be an improvement and I've tossed my hat into the ring at 50 feet. Thanks for the heads up!

    Igo,
Let me tell ya, I ran regular ole speaker wire for a a long time. I bought a pair of Audioquest Type 4's and a set of Morrow audio cables/wires. As I remember I paid $60. for the Type 4's and $130. for the Morrows. Both are a HUGE improvement over the 16 guage wire. Anyone who tries to dispute wire/cable performance is a fool. Now for the costs!! Keep searching for deals here and Audiogon you'll find them eventually.
I'll save my thoughts as to which one performs better for another thread but one does out perform the other by a wide margin IMO

Unless you have done a true double blind comparison test of those "premium" cables vs the equivalent sized plain old wire, and were able to scientifically rule out chance, you should probably refrain from calling anybody a fool.
