i am looking into a pair of lsi7's for my front channel. I have heard that they require a lot of power and 4 ohms from the receiver. my main concern is that my str-de545 is not going to give the lsi7's enough power.

I own a pair of RT15i's and they sound great on this system but they need new drivers. Should i just fix the RT's or move forward with the lsi7's? i really would like to get full advantage out of sacd and dvd audio.

i would like suggestions

thanks

Based on the manual I'm looking at online, there's a impedence selection switch, w/ a 4 ohm choice

Sony receivers have good power supplies and can hold a 4 ohm load. They do however run out of gas doing so meaning dynamic range is compromised. You can get the lsi's and add a amp later or fix your rti's if you love them. Nothing wrong with repairing man.

You will spend much more fixing the RT15is than what they are worth. Buy the LSi7s, see how they sound and then if they don't work well, upgrade your amps or sell the LSis and get something that works better with your gear.

After a liitle more research...There is no way I would attempt to drive the LSi series with that receiver. It is just not up to it IMO. Check out Polks Ebay store ....there are some great deals there that you might want to consider like the RTi A3.
