sub auto on/off noise

I tried searching and couldnt find a specific answer for this. I have a sub connected that has the auto on/off feature when it senses a low frequency, anyways, when it turns on there is a pop noise. I thought it was the surge of power going to it so I hooked it up to a power conditioner but still no luck. I have it hooked up using a single RCA cable to a Y splitting it into the two red and white cables. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Try to hook it up without the y splitter and if it still makes the noise then you can count that out. then try a new cable if it still does it then make sure you have the sub plugged in the right spot ( i hooked mine in the multichannel hook up by mistake and the sub kept making a pop). i am thinking one of these should fix the problem because i have a friend who bought a cable for his sub and the cable is bad.
Does your sub not have the left and right hook up? or just use the single cable instead of the Y splitter to left and right.

What kind of sub is it? Does it have an LFE input? If it does, I'd switch to that.

I had the same problem with my sub for a while. I had it hooked up the way you do, with a Y-cable. I disconnected the Y-cable and just hooked it up to the R input on the sub, and it fixed the problem. I would imagine if you did that it would fix the problem for you too.

alright, I found my problem, it was the receiver, or at least I think. My original receiver was about 8 years old, so because Santa didnt bring me what I wanted this year I decicded to upgrade my entire system excluding speakers and the noise went away but I also used a high quality sub cable so that may have helped because I am doing a run of about 30 feet through the floor.
