Hi

I recently got polk monitor 40 bookshelf speakers, while unpacking them i noticed the plastic was taped to the speakers and some of the sticky residue wont come off the wood, my problem is when i dust the speaker off the dust sticks to the sticky residue and looks like a streak of dust on it. any thoughts how to correct this and what can i use to clean the wood with without hurting the finish? also what is the black finish on the wood? paint, stain? thanks alot

The finish is vinyl on a Monitor 40. You should be able to use a citrus based cleaner such as Goo-Gone. Avoid the more powerful stuff like Goof-Off. PLEASE TEST a small area (perhaps on the bottom) first before attempting to clean off the residue.
