    Yeah my Daughter decided it was time to break out all the Xmas stuff. She put some out already. It's cool. I'm feeling it. To early for a tree, it would be dead before Xmas day.

    I'm way into it , I love Xmas.

    The tree (9' pre-lit) is up at my house-just got done-as well as boxes and boxes of other decorative items from the basement. :eek: Pretty much tradition to start on Black Friday. Most of my neighbors always get thier house lights up on BF.

    Listened to Music Choice Sounds of the Season while building and fluffing the tree and I thought it sounded awesome on my HT system. I was peasantly surprised.

    Of course I had to move a chair that was where the tree is now. The chair now resides where my sub used to be. :eek: The wife said we can do without it for a few months. I said whaa whaa what!! :eek:. I relocated it behind the couch. Just got done rescanning witht he SMS-1. :cool:

    When I build my dream house-I WILL build in a Christmas Tree closet, so that I can just wheel the fully decorated tree right into the closet just behind where it sits when displayed. Tal;k about a labor intensive activity.

    Contrary to popular belief, Xmas is not a way to "take Christ out of Christmas", but actually a legitimate substitute.
    The word "Christ" and its compounds, including "Christmas", have been abbreviated for at least the past 1,000 years, long before the modern "Xmas" was commonly used. "Christ" was often written as "XP" or "Xt"; there are references in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle as far back as AD 1021. This X and P arose as the uppercase forms of the Greek letters χ and ρ), used in ancient abbreviations for Χριστος (Greek for "Christ"), and are still widely seen in many Eastern Orthodox icons depicting Jesus Christ

    It is WAY too early for Christmas. I haven't built up my gift fund yet and time is drawing neigh. Other than that, I don't do any decorating or get a tree, so it's pretty much just the end of November for me.

    Christ = 1 syllable
    X = 1 syllable

    Why not use the correct pronunciation? Unless it's to save 5 key strokes I don't see the point. Xmas sounds cheap and commercial. Just one of my personal pet peeves.

    Have you ever heard anyone actually SAY "ecks-mas"? I agree that would be annoying, but I've only ever seen it in print, not vocal.

    Do we really have to have a freakin' debate on this? Geeez....

    Yes, geeez was an abbreviation as well. Would you folks like to debate that?

    BTW, I say Merry Christmas and not Happy Holidays. Peace.

    Oh, I've heard a few people say it, and it they come across as very unintelligent while saying the abbreviation.

    Nah, let's harp on the fact that Mr. Adams here used the word neigh, as in what a horse does, instead of the word he intended to use, nigh. Unless he actually did intend to write neigh. If so then I have to ask, what the hell are you talking about?

    OK ok ok...in the spirit of the "holidays" I take it all back. Call it anything you like. I should have kept my pissy little comment to myself but sometimes when the medication is starting to wear off.........Sorry to any and all I offended. Did not mean to start a flame throwing party. I love my Polk breatheren and wish only peace and happiness for all. Please disregard all pissy comments and all others I may make in the future. Peace on earth and good will toward men.

    Our tradition is we listen to Christmas songs, put up the tree and decorations, and watch National Lampoons Christmas Vacation on thanksgiving day. The lights on the tree were converted to LED's last year and not one problem.

    We always go out the Sat. after thanksgiving and get our tree. Here is the tree for this year. A little shorter than in the past (about 12' or so), but a decent shape....
