PSW650 constant buzz

I have PSW650 that just started to constantly buzz fairly loud. I unhooked the RCA cables so that the unit was only plug into the AC line and it still buzzed. I then removed both speakers and hooked them up directly to the stereo, no more buzz. I believe the internal amp has a problem. Does this sound correct? Would it be better to buy a new amp or try and have this one fixed? Where would I send it and what would the ballpark cost to fix/ or buy new?
Thanks Dan

Is the buzz in the sub speaker, or in the electronics (amp)? If its actually coming through the speaker, then either a filtering capacitor failed, and is now leaking AC (get a towel!! j/k), or something changed in your homes grounding scheme, and you are now picking up noise elsewhere. If its in the electronics, a transformer may have broken lamination, and is now vibrating to the tune of 60hz.

Hello Dan,
That sounds like a problem with the bass amplifier. It would be best to remove the amplifier and send it to us for evaluation. If you had some directions, does this sound like something you would be able to handle?

Ken,
I have a similar situation with my beautiful Rt3000p set (both lower halfs). I can certainly handle some directions. Is this something you could write or should I call you?
Thanks so much!
