Sharp LC46SB54U or Samsung Plasma?

I decided to purchase the Sharp 46" LCD 1080p LCD for $899 over the 50" Samsung Plasma that was on sale at Walmart.
From what I've read the Samsung was made just for the holiday sales. The contrast ratio was just 15,000-1. I wasn't able to see it on display anywhere. The Sharp looked good, I wanted to go with an LCD, because I would be able to hook it up to my PC, I couldn't actually see the Samsung, the normal price for this tv is $900 where as the Sharp originally was $1500.
I haven't had time to set it up yet, but has anyone had any experience on this particular Sharp? It's still unopened my budget is $900-$1000. I never owned a Sharp how do they compare to Sony's and Samsung's?

Sounds like a good deal, although I haven't really been watching prices closely. I bought my Samsung 52 inch LCD a year ago when Frys had a great Black Friday deal. While I'm happy with it, the reviews I've read suggest that the Sharp's in general compare well. I believe plasmas still have the edge on black reproduction, but they are a lot heavier and use more electricity. A year ago Sony's seemed to be a little better, until you factor in the higher price. Enjoy!MAIN: Polk Lsi9s; Polk PSW505; Lsic (in box); Onkyo SR-875; Parasound 2250; Cambridge Audio 740C; LG BD370

Thanks for the input after I posted this. I just looked at the Fry's ad they have a Samsung 50" Plasma for $950 PN50A450 it's a better model than the one on sale at Walmart for $800.Setup:

I have a 37" Sharp LCD in my bedroom and am very pleased with the color and detail.
The black level can not compare to my Pioneer Kuro plasma, but it still looks pretty good.
IMHO if your budget is around 1K, you ought to look at the 50" Panasonic entry level Plasma. They can bet got for around that price if you look hard. I also had 2 of the Samsung plasma's and they are hard to beat as well. -
I second the Panasonic plasma. You can get a 720p 50" for around $1k and its liable to last a good long while.Current setup:
Sony KDL-52W4100 LCD TV
HK AVR-635 receiver pre
Emotiva XPA-5 Amp
PS3
BFD
Oppo DV-983H
Panamax MAX 5400-PM Voltage Regulator
Polk RTi A9 mains
Polk CSi A6 center
Polk FXi A6 surrounds
SVS PB12-Ultra/2 sub

Ill have to check out the Panasonics I know there is a new cheaper model Panasonic at best buy for $900. I wasn't able to make it to Fry's to grab the Samsung if it's still available thats a likely option or the Panasonic. Wal-Mart's website says you can return items to any store, that's not the case talked to two managers will probably call corporate or store manager to complain it wasn't a fun experience.
TV was kind of a last second decision so I picked up the Sharp because of the sale. I am going to look at the plasma's tomorrow.Setup:

I have a 45 inch Sharp 720p in my bedroom. I would not use it as a main tv but it's awesome for my bedroom. I have it hung on the wall higher up and tilted down towards the bed. I can lay down or sit up and watch it. Overall a nice tv. Blacks are not the greatest on mine but mine is an older model.Dan
My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
TH-50PX80U is the best "bang for buck" TV you can get. You can try a websites called Tweak TV or AVS Forum to get some pretty good picture settings for a dark room. Panasonic is the future of plasma...they will be making panels for Pioneer and others next year.

I called all the Fry's they didn't have any in stock, and their store price is different than online. I returned the Sharp and went to Sears they had the Panasonic TH-PX80U for $899 they too were sold in all stores, however I paid for it now, and I'll be able to pick it up on Wednesday. I saw the display, and the picture looked better and bigger than the Sharp.Setup:
